No, that would be like calling Joe Biden a communist.

Oh yes, always wise to have a wad of cash around in case the electronic system fails, and for - ahem - private transactions. Don't get it nicked though, and watch out - they sometimes change the style of banknotes and eventually make the old notes hard to spend. I've never known it happen in the USA...

I'm beginning to understand why old people used to hide all their money under the floor and in secret hiding places I was just going to say that but you've beaten me to the punch, dammit. Given that banks don't pay interest on current accounts these days, and sometimes even charge to borrow your mo...

Good to see that somebody's fired a health professional. Too many people see them as some kind of authority. I can't judge the merits of this case because I don't know what was said. But ultimately I think the customer is always right. She basically asked me if I had incestuous feelings for my brot...

Turning on the tv, every program is about what a "special day" it is. That's a further reason why I'm glad I don't have access to live television. It's just a brainwashing machine for people trying to sell rubbish. Have you bought your chocolates yet? Have you got your helium balloons? Se...

I'm not fond of pink myself, though I don't know why. I've always liked red, in the right place at the right time, and pink is only red with a bit of white in it. My house interior has salmon pink doors and woodwork - it was previously owned by Muslims and apparently they have a penchant for the col...

In what manner do you believe it could cause impairment? I could see intoxication leading to impaired judgment, but someone taking it as prescribed wouldn't be dosed heavily enough to be intoxicated. A therapeutic dose is intended to be too little to cause intoxication in the patient, but additiona...

I heard Derren Brown say that the most common regret people have on their deathbeds is that they wish they'd lived their lives more for themselves instead of trying to be people pleasers. (I paraphrase) Personally, I'm not always sure how to distinguish between unhealthy fitting in and the use of co...

I do think none of the above should be required on every ballot. If none of the above wins all parties should be obliged to field new candidates. That's an improvement on what we've got. Currently a lot of people only vote for one lot to stop the other lot getting in. I'm ideologically opposed to c...

The Paris Commune, if that qualifies as a country. If not, Cuba or Nicaragua. Or Cromwell's England.

Not that driving under the influence of uppers strikes me as a particularly safe option. Folks with ADHD don't respond to speed the same way as other people, they tend to have very high tolerances and don't really show signs of intoxication (like the general population would) unless they've taken q...

I'd call it what it is - an unidentified fruit. Hang on, have you been reading about the Adam and Eve story? That's got an unidentified fruit in it that a lot of people call an apple. It wasn't a fruit at all, it was a symbol for the acquisition of the knowledge that led to the agricultural revoluti...

Why do some people admire dictators? Because they make the trains run on time. To put it more seriously, totalitarian regimes create the illusion of order and stability, which appeals to some folks. I guess it comes from early childhood, where Daddy is all-powerful and puts everything right. A lot ...
