Does anyone here play MUDs? (multi-user dungeons)? I would have thought more aspies played text-based games, but now seeing the forum threads I don't really know anymore, so I thought I would ask. Let me know if there is a better thread that I can look at. MUDs are the predecessors to modern MMOs. T... |

^ Yes, not trying as hard to conceal natural behaviours does decrease anxiety. I dawdle, space out and rock a little in public without trying to hide it so much now; my anxiety levels have plummeted. it really is incredible. my primary diagnosis was anxiety disorder, my psychiatrist (for whom i hav... |

as well as the memory lapses, usually a person with DID will have a "host" personality which is usually unaware of the other personalities, and the "switching" is uncontrollable. Rather than a deliberate/aware switching of identity between two. just what I recall from psych undergrad. i did go throu... |

Someone was awesome to put this in alphabetical order. I would re-alphabetise it again but don't have time to rearrange all the numbers. 1. activebutodd 2. Adrienne Aelith 3. Alannah B 4. Alicia 5. Amanda 6. Amy 7. Anne R 8. Beth 9. Brittany P 10. Caitlin 11. Celeste 12. Clare 13. Darby 14. Deirdre ... |

well, i disclosed to a friend of a friend for the first time that i had a diagnosis. her immediate response was "who told you that?" "do you believe it?" "well if you believe it then it's a self-fulfilling prophecy and you don't need it [can't remember because i was blanking out] and it's making you... |

Everyone has different abilities/support/limitations. Sometimes people do just whine when they can "just do it", while other people genuinely have limitations compared to other people in the same boat. qft. It's premature to make assumptions really. The ones I made in the post above are specificall... |

I think the people who are posting "I can't do this!" threads are people who are still in the early stages of post-diagnosis mentality. They're still trying to diagnose themselves and justify their diagnosis because they've just had a major identity shift and want to talk about it so it seems more l... |

Unless you mean like a sit down eat food reception. In that case just do whatever you usually do when you're dragged to a family gathering you don't want to be at. Or have you not had much practice at that? When I was young I used to bring out a pen and pad of paper to write/draw, doodle on the napk... |

Pretend no one's around? You could be perfectly happy sitting on your own staring into a cup of tea. Unless you really value your cousin's opinion of you or you're part of the bridal party or something. Maybe I just can't picture what the situation would be. If I get that anxious I am learning to ju... |

Imagine what it will be like for me. At my wedding there will be nearly a hundred people I don't know...at my OWN reception! I'm going to formulate a few stereotyped polite, gracious phrases and say them all day. and excuse myself a lot. As long as you're not the bride or the groom, I don't think it... |

that's very nice what you did for your kitty, kor. my cat is an outside cat (and not longhair or anything) so we don't really do anything for her, poor thing. she is quite independent though.
it is FREEZING over here in new zealand. |

this is what I have been struggling with as well, I have the same diagnoses as you, but with a primary dx of anxiety. In my case I have a research paper (lit review) AND a 30% written assignment for another class. I spent 15 hours of Saturday desperately trying to focus and produced one sheet of pap... |
