I think it is quite possible he may have been on the spectrum - but we will never really know! I also think there is a lot of validity to Abstract Expressionism in terms of its limit pushing, its zen like quality (not unlike Japanese Zen art and calligraphy actually) and the fact that it is immersed...

I am a complete flop at anything beyond basic addition, subtraction and division.
I much prefer creativity and painting and writing and drawing and fiction.
So i am not a geek aspie but a creative one.

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: How can I gain control of my facial expressions?

My expressions have little relationship with how i might feel. The inner and the outer do not match. I have one of those grinning, aspie faces, and I have a whole lot of rubbery facial expressions that are all over the place. I frown a lot and people assume i am angry when I am simply thinking or po...

No prosopagnosia whatsoever. Can talk about other things aside from special interests for short periods of time (but it annoys and depresses me.) Can read some facial expressions in isolation but not in tandem with conversation, verbal utterances and other extraneous input. (So basically I can score...

No-one. Others in my family who are on the spectrum vary from loving physical contact to not liking it much. I loathe being touched unexpectedly. I never liked much contact as a child, but this was never a problem anyway, as my mother states she is most likely on the spectrum and is not very "cuddly...

I get very affected by the small details and can easily take offense because of hypersensitivity. And i note on WP, this seems to be fairly common amongst many. It's a different style of being - it makes for a lot of incredible mind power and sensitivity and insight in people here which I find fasci...

I prefer to be thin. I hate the feeling of flesh touching flesh on my body and I am hypersensitive in this regard. I hate having ANY excess weight on me. I feel it far more than most other people it seems. THe minute i have a tiny bit of excess weight on me I feel incredibly weighed down and sluggis...

I agree, think of Tom Hanks as " Forrest Gump ". Totally believable. Or Dustin Hoffman as Tootsie or Rainman , or Johnny Depp as Edward Sissorhands . If it is any help in understanding about acting I would like to share something I recognized in my life. I was very active in drama classes in school...

I admit it, I love getting attention and praise for the things I do, no matter how minor of an accomplishment it is. I'm kind of like this but at the same time I feel pretty vulnerable when I do get praise. When I first started playing music in pubs, it was a bit challenging for me. It wasn't becau...

Not many. I don;t have a lasting sense of closeness with anyone really, except for maybe my mum, some family members (sho i rarely see or connect with) and my son. I do feel a maternal instinct with my son. What I do know is that my closeness to people is internally and cogntively generated by me, a...
