I went on two brief sleepaway camps when I was 11 and in a day camp. These went pretty well. I also went to an outdoor school and was bullied by some boyes. I went to 3 week sleepaway camp when I was 14. The boys my age bullied me. I sought help from the authorities, who didn't take it seriously. In...

My boss complained that I didn't talk enough. Usually, the complaints are the exact opposite. It seems that when he asks me yes/no questions, I answer "yes" or "no." How am I to know that he wants an explanation and how detailed. He just needs to learn to ask follow up questions. Socially, my respon...

What's there to like? Uncomfortable chairs, the acrid smell of burned popcorn oil, the ticket taker at one cinema yelling at customers, sharing an experience with complete strangers (that's an NT motivation), people confusing fiction with reality. I stopped going to regular cinemas years ago. I rare...

I can be very intimidating, even I don't intend to. Sometimes, it can be useful when I'm trying to get someone recalcitrant to do his job. My instinct to stand up for myself also deters bullies. Still, I can be unintentionally intimidating. I'm usually the smartest person in the room. That tends to ...

I've been using Facebook and LinkedIn with some success. The more important face-to-face networking has largely failed for me. And just my luck, I'm sick today, so I missed an opportunity to network. :(

Therapists and psychologists are very familiar with personality disorders. When I got my M.A. in psychology, I had an entire course in just personality disorders. Autism Spectrum Disorders were not taught. Most therapists and even doctors are not very familiar with them. My own psychiatrist admits ...

Like in the mornings when I go to work, I have a grooming routine that includes brushing my teeth and shaving. When I don't follow that routine, I don't groom. I leave my cell phone, watch and employe...

I was a jury once. The judge's instructions were very clear, which made things easy. Even the prosecutor gave grounds for dismissal. When we had our once around the table, I spoke a bit incoherently. Still, I was able to make points in response to others, such as whether grand jury testimony was adm...

I've had two babies (well, my wife bore them). Childbirth doesn't bother me. Then, the babies are usually fun to play with. I played "Give Me 5" with one child until it became too easy for him to touch my hands.
