In my more recent days, I've been VERY into tv-series. Roughly from age 19 to 32. I could, while still single, hold marathons by my self, watching e.g. Buffy the Vampire Slayer 3-4 seasons all in one sitting, with only 4-5 hours of sleep in between when strictly needed. These days this has changed ...

I don't think that an obsession just happening to be something that's popular necessarily makes it less autistic if the focus on it is unusual. I don't know you, so i can't really give much of an opinion on whether or not i think your interest is obsessive enough, but i don't think that WoW being po...

On addiction vs. aspie obsession... Have you almost always had an obsession with something, even before WoW was around? If it was an addiction, it would be kind of a one time thing, and you likely wouldn't have had other obsessions before becoming "addicted" to this.. With aspie obsessions, persever...

I don't think anyone who spends any time with be would mistake me for a psychopath/sociopath. I think of myself as sort of the opposite of a sociopath. Sociopaths generally know what's going on socially and they know how people feel, how to appear supportive, etc.... they just don't actually care ab...

Asperger's isn't "mild as disorders go"... It's severe. It's only called "mild" when it's being compared to severe, stereotypical cases of autism. It seems to me that AS would have more potential to be disabling over the long term. It's more what i think of when i think of a "disability,"(not to say...

A lot of people do. Actually, i think if it weren't for the current DSM saying that you can't diagnose ADHD in someone with a PDD (a lot do anyway though), that more would be diagnosed with both. My diagnoses are Asperger's and Inattentive ADHD.

I call it having an autistic mind. Then have fun with the perception that you're developmentally disabled and can't handle regular human interaction. We are developmentally disabled. I understand saying that it's not a "disorder," meaning that it's a difference and there's nothing wrong with this w...

Well, i'm not very shy about talking in class, at least not these days (as a kid i didn't talk in class). Sometimes i probably even talk a little too much and can blurt things out at times. Before class started(the teacher was a little late) i was telling everyone else in some facts about snakes and...

That awkward moment when everyone around you starts talking about autism, complete with generalizations such as "people with autism are great at math," and they don't realize that you are autistic. Yeah. So, someone in my class did a project on autism(which wasn't as accurate as it could have been, ...

I don't know about Citalopram, but i know that some antidepressants can be addictive.. Not "i've gotta have my fix" type of addiction, but the feeling horrible and getting headaches when you stop taking them kind of addiction. I'm on Paroxetine, have been for the past 12 years, and if forget to take...

I hated high school with a passion, but i don't remember ever being bullied... Although there is a very distinct possibility that if i was bullied i may not have noticed. I wasn't exactly all that in tune to what my peers around me were doing.

Usually sensory issues are associated with ASD, both being overly sensitive to stimuli and seeking stimuli. I have some sensitivities(they were a lot worse when i was a kid), but I think that the majority of my sensory abnormalities involve seeking sensory input rather than being put off by it. So, ...

You're not really supposed to get diagnosed with anything unless it causes some significant problems with functioning, though. I think you may be including "Broader Autism Phenotype" people who aren't autistic but have some autistic characteristics.

I have *mental* games/rituals with words. I look at words and find the middle letter(or two letters), dividing the word in half. I also do this with the words in sentences, and the syllables in sentences. Sometimes i also read and sound out the word backwards in my mind. I like to do things in odd n...

Depends what you mean by rare.. If you consider 1 in 100 rare, then probably. Some people would consider 1 in 10000 to be rare. But, anyway, 99% of the population doesn't have it, if you go by the surveys they've done and all. They say that about 1 in 88 kids is diagnosed somewhere on the autistic s...

What are the symptoms of severe aspergers? For instance not being able too leave your house without having an anxiety attack when you come across a crowd or a large group of people. That sounds like agoraphobia. People can be agoraphobic without being autistic at all(i think most with it aren't aut...
