Euphemisms, unlike idioms, analogies, metaphors etc. are used solely to disguise unpleasant things in neutral sounding expressions. Like "collateral damage" means "oops, we accidentaly bombed a hospital near out target. ". My thoughts exactly! I mean, what the HELL was wrong with 'blind' and 'deaf'...

Maggie, that reminds me of a conversation I had a few years ago with my therapist: Me: I don't want to go with him on a blind date because I suspect that, because he doesn't have a car, he'll ask me to drive him home after the date and I don't like giving rides to strangers at night. Therapist: Oh,...

Hoo boy, if you liked collateral damage that much, you'll like all the other military euphemisms like sleep management=sleep deprivation, extensive questioning/persuasion=torture, special renditions=kidnapping, undertaking=burial (but that has been widely known now), correctional facility=prison and...

200 views and only 7 replies? Weak bros. Anyway, time for me to clear some stuff up. Some of those phrases maybe were better understandable with a bit of context, but they can stand on their own pretty well too, I think "I see a red door and I want to paint it black" Yeah, most people caught that on...

I think you guys misunderstand inroversion and extroversion. It's not that introvert=shy.... introverts are just people who can't live without taking a moment once in a while to be alone with their thoughts. Extroverts on the other hand can't sit still if they're not doing something actively. While ...

I know that many NTs' behaviors do not come naturally to them, same as for us Aspies they need to feign. Things like ass-kissing, cocktail party mingling, white lies, etc. But they feign with much less effort than us (not to mention, more effectively too, but that's another topic). Why is it easier...

I thought it would be interesting what you people understand under some phrases that I encountered over the years. Now interpretations are a vague thing anyway so no understanding can be that wrong. Anyway, I'll post some phrases, others can post some too "Tomorrow never comes until it's too late" "...

There's a saying that goes "Fake it till you make it". So if you fake a behaviour for a while, it because so ingrained into you that you might as well have had it from the very beginning. So I dunno really, my be a case of you get better at thing the more you do it

I wish someone would come up with a better euphemism for non-religious folks to use. I'M ATHEIST, DEAL WITH IT YOU NTs  It's just a courtesy euphemism, a sentence of politeness and habit, no need to overanalyze and try to cram in some atheist beliefs if you're talking about somebody who died

It's not the fact that you are standing up for yourselves (and if it is the reason, then f**k those types of people anyway), it's that fact HOW you do it. There's a difference between being asked something and you just going "Haha no way man, I really have no time, sorry dude" or you starting to ge...
