He's sentenced to 21 years of preventive detention. This means that he will never get out as long as he is regarded as dangerous. If he never regrets his actions, never admits to the horrors he's caused, and never admits to understanding the pain and suffering he's caused, he will not get out of pri...

The topic most neurotypical people like to talk about best is themselves. Asking a few not-too-personal questions about what they enjoy or spend their time doing, then listening attentively to their answers (nodding and saying the occasional "Uh huh" or "Interesting!") will make them think you are ...

Ok,so you may have poor social skills, but I'm sure you have a decent ability to learn stuff. :) A good thing to learn is to learn not to call women sluts, skanks, whores, or any other derogatory name (even though you believe that they deserve it). It brings nothing good, neither to you nor to any o...

Actually, one of the four appointed psychiatrists said in an interview today that there has been another case where someone with Aspergers were declared legally insane. He did not mention which case, but if they come to the conclusion it is Asperger's, there is actually a chance of him being declar...

I'm not sure about this. He's been 'diagnosed', questioned and 'rediagnosed' before. They're actively looking for a way to make him appear completely insane so they can lock him away safely in an asylum for the rest of his life. That's this case's main premise. What I'm especially interested in is ...

Sounds like your mom has some problems understanding what you're dealing with. It may be too late this time around, but maybe you can try to explain your predicament to her by comparing it to something which is easier for her to understand. Like: "You wouldn't send a kid with an allergy to horses on...

This is going to be a long one, I'm afraid, but I need to clarify what I talked about in my previous contributions. First and foremost: I agree with Mysty. My point is that it is almost meaningless to talk about NTs as a “group” of people. NTs, defined as people not on the autistic spectrum, constit...

This is truly interesting. Many aspies on the WP forum talk about the NTs' apparent (and obviously irritating) lack of focus on and interest in facts. To me it becomes something of a paradox that one of the facts most ignored by aspies is that NTs do not constitute a homogenous group of people. The ...

It would be hard to find a book about this because NTs are most of the population. Maybe just books on human social behavior. Not easy to find specific things about NT communication and how it's different than autism like it would be to find about autistics because nobody thinks of comparing the "n...

Well... The thing is, most NTs vary their vocabulary depending on context, both consciously and unconsciously. It doesn't mean that they have a limited vocabulary or like to "dumb down" how they speak, but just that they use different words in different context and when speaking to different people....

behavior of neurotypicals 1: how do neurotypicals think? 2:what are the main priorities of neurotypicals? 3:why do neurotypicals seem more relaxed than aspies? Let me venture an answer of some sorts: :) 1. NTs think in many different ways. We are not a homogenous group of people, but billions of in...

From what I heard he was a religious fanatic of some sort, and I thought he killed more than one person...I have not heard anything that indicates to me the guy would have had AS. He killed 76 people. An Aspie girl who was a member of the youth organisation of the Norwegian Labour Party was among t...

And it's not only sports and people-watching. My insterests have included collecting rocks and miniature skeletons, the NASA space shuttle prog...

The sad thing is that the Norwegians are likely to try and pin some kind of sanity issue on him, as that's the only way they can actually lock him away for the rest of his life (as said before, Norway does not have a life sentence). I find this sad because I think the main thing this act shows is t...

No, I don't think instinct/gut feeling will ever be obsolete. It's just something that most (but not all) NTs have, to various degrees. It's an instinct which is useful in many situations, but you cannot always rely on it - and people know this. And girls falling for the wrong guy will have a poorly...

They don't sound like the kind of friends I'd want to have. Why should you have to invite anyone to YOUR wedding that you don't really know? That's just sillyness and drama-queenery. I agree. Just ignore what happened. It was not a serious mistake. Come to think of it, it was not a mistake at all. ...
