That can be a double-edge sometimes. On one hand, it'll let them know that you'll have difficulties with some tasks, but be of tremendous help in others. On the other, there's no telling if your boss may be inclined to the stigma of the condition. Do some "social research," i guess you cou...

That was an example, and meant this to be a kind of ask/reference kind of thread. With respect to those getting literal about the problem stated, I'm aware of a few things, know very basic car maintenance, etc. XP I'm wanting this to be a kind of summary for assistance to those who are not near any ...

I dont know if this has ever come up, but I'll bring it up. First, i want to say hello again to all past and present members, and i have missed posting here for a while. In the next few months, my parent's will be leaving town and start their process of eventual retirement. My situation is that i'm ...

It's going to be a lifelong dilemma . . . about the only thing you can do is find ways to limit the possibility of it happening. A sensory filter kit, if you will: shades, ear plugs, etc (where you're allowed to use them). Hell, in my current job, I've come just steps from melting down (shutting dow...

I hear that it's supposed to be awesome . :D Hearing and experiencing are two different things. At 31, i don't know, and probably never will . . . not getting my hopes, or anything else, up over it since it seems to lead to an addict's state of being (ie, once you get it, you only want more). Quite...

WEll, i had an idea for classification based on a number system: Mild Autism (Asperger's, etc): Type 1 Autism (or A1) Classic Autism (Much like Temple Grandin): Type 2 Autism (A2) Severe Autism (unable to communicate, etc): Type 3 Autism (A3) Then within that a subset indicating severity (from 1-9) ...

Bit of a note, this is kinda graphic, but the reason I posted this is due to a statement near the end when they're taking a look at the brain ( starts at 43:20). Spoiler: "Most is involved in sensory information . . . the brain is small, ...

Well, starting anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks from now, I'll be moving into an apartment again. This time with a roommate (someone who's fairly similar to me, socially speaking). It's a decent apartment, not far from where I'm living now, but still plagued with random uncertainties. Money's still tight ...

It would be interesting to see what would have to change in order for humans to let go of the desire for personal ownership. That would be communism, and capitalists are scared to death of it, "How DARE someone be considered equal to me. For them to be equal, they must get to where I have gotten . ...

I assure you, your rant is heard and is much like a very large percentage of those who are here (myself included). granted, only one of my current jobs is directly customer service, but the amount of interaction is pretty small (time of day/year pending). The other job is more maintenance, but I hav...

I'm 31 years old, but people tend to think i'm in my mid-20s. THe funny part is that when I was 21, people thought I was in my 30s. Go figure. Course it could be that since many of us arent that expressive, we dont use our facial muscles much, so the stretch and wear on our faces (which would indica...

I'll admit to getting that feeling a lot after hearing of some kind of trigger (as others here have stated). Anxiety is a pain, and can leave one feeling drained (been there, done that). If you're on medications, i suggest getting those checked or adjusted as the more severe symptoms may just pop up...

Not sure if there is any way around that. I usually find that when you trying to get something, you have to NOT be looking for it in the first place. "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you'll get what you need," as the song puts it. Some of us here are in their 30 and hav...

In a word, yes. With the odd weather we've been having lately, it's been wreaking havoc on my senses. My prime seasons tend to be fall, early winter, and early spring. The rest just aggravate my allergies, or make the air feel unbreathable.

To believe or not to believe, that is the question . . . Most people here believe in facts . . . fact: no one truly knows what happens after death Not a fact. You don't know THAT. Someone could have died and come back to tell about it. fact: people of influence abuse others for sake of control True...
