Thanks for your replies. I am in another Aspie parenting group, and apparently, this speech issue is not that uncommon. Not sure what it is but some suggestions were a form of echolalia, vocal tics, maybe Tourette's and maybe just having his brain work quicker than what he is able to speak. I guess ...

Hello all- Just wondering if any of you have ever dealt with this speech issue. My 12 yr old Aspie son has just recently started this habit. Whenever he starts to tell us or somebody else something, he will re-start the sentence 5, 6 or even more times before he can get it out. He has started doing ...

I hear exactly what you are saying and I do see value in him attending school. He is in 6th grade, so maybe we can return him to school at some point in time. I don't know. I see both sides of the coin. Honestly, my husband went ahead and made the decision, and I had to respect it. I feel bad about ...

Thank you for your suggestions. So far my son seems to be feeling positive about the change, but we will see. Right now he would have been out for Thanksgiving break anyway. I love your ideas and I think I will use some of these. He seems to be okay about the incident that occurred, and I hate to ke...

I honestly thank you for your replies and I agree. He does need to work on those skills. We do have a homeschool group in place, and I am hopeful that he can make some friends. I don't know. Overall, he doesn't seem to be bothered by not having any. I don't really know how to help him learn to make ...

Looks like I will get slammed here, but here goes. I feel much safer with Trump as the President-elect than I have in the last 8 yrs with Obama as Pres. He did not stand up for America. Trump may say some crude things, but a lot of what he has said has been blown up by the media. Bottom line----Hill...

Thank you for your reply. Well, I suppose many will think I am over reacting or crazy---so be it. My son is fragile. He thought this kid was a friend and my son is very naïve. He trusted this kid and the kid took advantage of him. I don't know, the thought did cross my mind that maybe I could keep h...

We have already made the decision to withdraw our son. I did speak with the school counselor and the boy did admit to what happened. The school offered to do what you said and monitor the bathroom interactions, but frankly, I don't trust that in a middle school of 1400 kids that my son will be monit...

I know. My husband and I have decided to withdraw our son from public school and I have talked with the school counselor. They talked to the other boy and he admitted it, so at this point, I am letting the school handle the other kid. I am just not going to send my son back. I have the means to home...

Hello all- I have not been on in quite sometime. My 11 yr old Aspie is now in 6th grade in public school. He has never really had any friends, but apparently, another boy in the special ed department has befriended him. Yesterday, when I picked him up from school, his face was red and I could tell t...

Oh, and as far as I know, he seems pretty happy. He doesn't complain about going to school and I ask him from time to time if he is happy since I know he doesn't have many friends either. He always says yes.

Actually, he doesn't even play video games and his Youtube time is very limited. He doesn't have a whole lot of interests. He does get incentives for behaving well and for trying hard to do good. Mostly things like treats that he likes or going special places that he enjoys. He says he wants to be g...

On a positive note, I have read that the verbal stimming will help language development and my son is quite verbally fluent at 10 yrs old. So, you may want to allow him to do it. A good set of earplugs may be in order.

Yes, this is called verbal stimming and my 10 yr old son started it when he was about 4 and it has never stopped. It make take different forms (noises, words, phrases, random thoughts, etc....) but it has never stopped. I hate to say it, but it drives us crazy at times. We love our son dearly, but so...
