"This is Gabriel Making Sense of School" by Hartley Steiner is a great book. My daughter also enjoyed another one about a girl named Izzy, that I can't remember the exact title of. It may be Why Does Izzy Cover Her Ears.

I don't know how old your boy is, but have you read the children's book "Freak the Might"? The book describes a boy with a terminal illness who is physically small and weak yet precociously intellitnget. It describes a beautiful friendsIp he develops with another outcast. I think there is also a mov...

My daughter learned social behaviors from the Tinkerbell movies. Depending upon your child's ability, you may want to watch with her and explain, whenever Tink holds her breath, nit shows that she is going to make a poor choice.

Strawberry Shortcake is another house favorite.

At what age should you get a kid's IQ tested to see if they're gifted?

Our school district has a policy not to identify anyone as being "gifted" until they are in 3rd grade.

My daughter used to do that. She would unbuckle the double stroller, jump out, run into the street, and then stand there staring at me. She would run out of the playground. She would try to fly by taking leaps off of stairs and cliffs. (we lived in a very rocky area at the time) My daughter, thankfu...

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a forum for parents of gifted and talented kids? I'm a Luddite, but wrong planet is a pretty comfortable forum format for me. Something similar would be nice.

A forum that is geared towards twice exceptional kids would be appreciated as well,

Thanks!

Hi,

It looks like we are in similar situations. I'd be interested to hear more about how your family is tackling this decision, pm me if you'd like to talk.

The two sites that I am looking at now are Hoagie's Gifted, and Davidson's. Both have a lot of good imformation.

Keep us posted!

I got a 32 on the first test and 147/200 - aspie on the Baron - Cohen. I've not been diagnosed asperger's, but my parents were pretty adamant to never let the school do an evaluation on me though I clearly needed it. If a person suspects they are an aspie, or self diagnosis, is there value in gettin...

Thanks everyone for your replies. We are taking all of the pros and cons under considering. Currently, we are thinking that, at the younger grades, much of school centers around organization and socialization, which are her week points. Thus, it would be better to keep her with her age group until s...

You have my full empathy. I am so sorry that you and your son have to go through this. Document everything! It sounds like there are some real bullies in that group. With only two weeks left and the regular teachers out, you can't really expect much from the school. Documenting will give you ammunit...

Hi, My 6 year old is just finishing up kindergarten. She is very intelligent, but has some social quirks. She her reading test scored her at the end of 5th grade, which I believe is as high as that test would go. She reads even better in her special interest areas, which include most of the natural ...

I had the normal recommended ultrasounds witty my elder daughter, who has asperger's.

I had many many more with my next daughter who was high risk, ended up being delivered a premie and is now a thriving nt.

There really isn't a way to make this poll scientifically valid in this forum.

JoeRose, If you are considering going gluten free the there are some steps I would seriously recommend following. First: you need to keep a food log for at least two weeks. Document everything that you eat and the times that you eat it along with any symptoms you suspect as being related to food all...

Once you get used to cooking gluten free it's not so expensive. Yogurt, fruits, eggs, fish, nuts vegetables and rice are all gluten free. Ice cream, nutella, gummies, and hard candies are good gluten free deserts. Chocolate is gluten free. Cook lots of stews and stir fries to start with, they're eas...
