Although I have mentioned this in a recent thread, these 6 are the key symptoms of autism:-

1. Social impairment OR social awkwardness

2. Sensory issues

3. Meltdowns/shutdowns/overload

4. Special interests

5. Like routine/sameness/repetitiveness

Would you be able and willing to post pics of your "students"?  I think that would be really cool! Well I'll have to post in a PM, as they're unique enough to give myself away if someone in my family saw the pictures on the internet. They know I like doing it, in those particular colours....

You could try Evilbay (sorry, I know you don't like internet shopping). The only problem is you have to be very careful or the item comes from China. I checked that, didn't really get much luck. I think I'll just have to keep buying a whole pack of colouring pens, take out the colours that I need, ...

That’s not very nice to hope that she wouldn’t have kids just cause you’re jealous. Should be happy for her. Why shouldn’t she have kids if she’s able and willing to ? Yes well why do I need to be nice all the time? Anyway she doesn't know how I feel about her anyway. I'm not stopping her. I just k...

Today I met my boyfriend's niece, who works as a carer in a home for adults with learning disabilities, and she had one of them with her. He isn't autistic, but his disability (or 'mental retardation') meant he had no self-awareness of how he looks to other people. He's 21 and wants a girlfriend but...

I've been out today and looked in every possible store that sells pens individually, but nowhere has the colours I want, or the type. Such a shame. :(

Comparing ourselves to others is practically never healthy and it's particularily strong source of problems for neurodiverse people. Each of us is unique. It's not bad, it's beautiful  and healthy for the humanity as a whole. I know, I do have a habit of comparing myself to my peers, I have ...

Where I live the traffic is unbearable, and all they're doing is building more and more houses, and then there'll be MORE traffic. This town once started off as a quaint little village, very old and historical, now it's become like a city and is a nightmare to get around. There is always roadworks e...

A lot of people here trying to smokescreen and hide that this is very likely resulting from your autism. They're feeling embarrassed by you and trying to manipulate you into believing it's normal. Ignore them. If that's aimed at me, it's a bit inaccurate because for one I'm just one person not &quo...

OP, I don't think getting pregnant would be a good idea if you still have such a difficulty having a PAP test. I think your body is guiding you against getting pregnant and Nature often knows better (from its own perspective of species' survival ;) ) Pregnancy may be too risky personally to you. I ...

So many women I know have had long-term changes to the body because of being pregnant. My mum was lucky, as she had no birth complications during both her pregnancies, although she did feel very sick when she was pregnant with me. She had an easier labour when giving birth to me than she did my brot...

It's one of the hardest things in the world to do. It's why I switched to a night job, although I hate the dark I still don't miss having to be rudely awaken by a stupid alarm in the early morning and having to leave my comfy bed and head out in the cold to work. I understand that everyone feels the...

Do you make up personalities or backgrounds for your students, or just make their uniforms? I used to like to draw old fashioned army uniforms and had a sketchbook full of them. Gradually that switched to making them out of lego with back stories for the different people. Not really, as there are t...

No, but as a female I was asked why I didn't wear makeup or go clothes shopping. At 14 I'd rather be playing with Legos than going out on a shopping spree with my mother or friends.
