Struggling socially is par for the course for us aspies, but some of us struggle more than others.

What are your experiences with social anxiety, and what coping strategies and therapies have you tried?

Why would anyone rob a gun? They don't have any money. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're having an aspie moment rather than being sarcastic. Take the time to read the link please. The victim was robbed OF HIS GUN. The gun was STOLEN. The gun was not "robbed". Exactly. The gun...

What about unmarried men? apparently not addressed in the study above. And exactly why I'm suspicious. Why go into the study with married and unmarried women as different groups, but not the men? Either this is begging the question (because they already know the results) or they split the sample in...

What I find interesting is the difference between married and unmarried women, what does that say? It says to me "cherry picking interesting results". It's too random a subset. What about the married and unmarried men? Many years ago, I saw a curious statistic that stated 87% of the children of Isr...

Are hedonism and nihilism so closely related or is it just me? On some level, they're the same thing. Both the hedonist and the nihilist feel life has no inherent meaning, but the hedonist concludes that they can therefore maximise their own pleasure. I suspect many nihilists secretly like being mi...

It depends on where you live. Per science the 20 most peaceful societies are relatively small and people share instead of collect goods. Humans by nature given a relatively small population with the ability to share instead of collect are peaceful cooperative social animals, not unlike the Bonobo w...

I think it's mostly an availability check, but not necessarily in the way you think. It can be very difficult to tell when someone is flirting with you (even for NTs!) and it's a good way to cut down the uncertainty. If she says yes, she's not flirting, and the conversation can carry on in that unde...

Yes, I was addressing the original topic. But the principle is much the same. Convince the general populace that an individual or a group is evil in some way, and they will turn on them - though the extent varies. I'm sure Nazi Germany had a large number of people who simply avoided the Jews or kept...

Welcome to human nature. There's been a lot of stuff in the UK recently about celebrities and historical child abuse. Jimmy Saville was the first case; now Rolf Harris has been taken down as well... and police are now investigating Cliff Richard. Now here's where it gets quite interesting. I can't s...

There is a reasonably high profile psychic in the UK who used to tell people all the gory details of family members' suicides... Ah, the wonderfully talented and unimpeachable Psychic Sally. Largely because she'll sue the crap out of anyone who claims she's a fraud out to steal people's money. In o...

Hello everyone. As someone who used to struggle with making friends, I've written up how I eventually figured it out: http://freedom-muse.com/2014/07/21/the-friendship-ladder-how-to-make-friends/ There are many different levels of friends. You can't simply jump straight into a full-on friendship str...
