My friend cannot go out due to sirens, flashing lights and flourescent clothing. She feels imprisoned in her own home and cannot go out without help. I've never met anyone who is like this on the spectrum before so we feel quite along in this. This is being totally housebound, not just that it's dif...

I worked with animals for years and understand power structure, can read it clearly in any room by watching other people's interactions. I don't know what you mean by societal structure... surely that is different in every level from family structure to structure of countries or even the world. If ...

I run a group for Autistics and we try to invite them out to our events all the time, but most don't show up most of the time. The reason most people don't show up is usually anxiety, cost, or physical disabilities. You really have to engage with people and put energy and time into relationships in ...

What do you mean by cringle culture though? When I hear this I tend to think of the old days of watching people on Popstars / X-Factor. Some of those performances were genuinely cringy but I understand your point that it could be taking advantage of vulnerable people. Nowadays what I find cringy is ...

I think I need to understand the structure of society in order to cope. In the past it was just a simple pyramid of power but now it seems to be much more complicated, or no structure at all. How do you cope? How does it work now?

For me, it is not a matter of "coping" and feeling anxious.  Quite the opposite, in fact.  It is a matter of knowing when to stop and assimilated what I have learned. It's always so hard to know when to stop. I take breaks when it gets too tough otherwise I can't think straight. But there...

The only thing I can do is talk about it to my employer but it doesn't help that much. I can only think clearly by day 3 and can't get any work done until then. If you have th...

See about an autism support group for adults. You can exchange observations and tips without feeling judged for being different. Incidentally, I found your strong objection to use of the word "normal" off-putting. Do you want to have a meaningful conversation with others here, or do you w...

Anyone who mentions Godel's theorem in a discussion on social skill is strange.

You may continue to have issues with relationships if you consider yourself normal but unable to have a relationship.

Who is "normal" anyway? I don't think anyone is. But we're getting off-topic here.
