There is no such thing as biological race or being "biologically white." Race is a social construct that exists specifically to create and enforce a hierarchy of power, privilege, and oppression. It does not exist outside of that context.

Forum: LGBT Discussion   Topic: What exactly is the pronoun 'They' used for?

I kind of learned to use "they" to describe others in the 80's gay culture, just for safety. But in writing it flows better than s/he, which I used for years too (APA guidelines, "consideration of the reader") and now back to they. Since I miss some social cues, it's safer for m...

My parents were in denial because I taught myself to read at 3-4 years of age, and could read at a college level by the first grade, so obviously I was just "smart." A family friend tried to tell them I was probably autistic but they didn't believe him because I was ~too smart~ to be autis...

In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king. So they say. Its not really surprising that NT's would be popular on this site. Folks with normal social skills will, almost by definition, become more popular than the socially inept (even in a club of socially inept folks). Except for one thing. ...

think I should clarify what I am asking.I just find the gender differences interesting, meaning, does that mean that women are supposed to generally speaking impress a man? If that is common than the genders are not being equal imo. Or why do men often have to protect the women anymore than the wom...

I was bullied in school and it certainly contributed to my PTSD.

There are a few members on this forum who think bullying is okay.

I think that often when people say "you're being oversensitive" what they really mean is "this thing matters more to you than it does to me and that's wrong/bad." And it is irritating.

Now, IMO, self-diagnosis is OK, and I've rarely seen obvious signs that it was wrong, at least in communities of autistics. There were a couple of people with a mistaken diagnosis, IME, usually schizoid or schizotypal (I tend to confuse those two, anyway, one of those), but they're easy to spot due...

I'm annoyed by tumblr people and social justice warriors adopting autism as yet another victim card. It's infuriating and adds to the trivialization that already happens because many people do think that autism is a "joke diagnosis" and we're just being difficult on purpose. Well, when pe...

There really is no rational, logical reason for the nasty responses to self-diagnosis. All it takes is understanding that people turn to this because they are trying to figure themselves out. They're not trying to be special snowflakes or get extra benefits no one else would get. They're trying to p...

According to research I've read, schizotypal features are common in autistic adolescents. Schizotypal PD itself is a valid diagnostic category, and just because one thinks it doesn't apply to him doesn't mean it applies to no one . Most people get vague when describing magical thinking and odd belie...

I have had sexual relationships.

I know for certain that I am asexual.

As for the woman who developed PTSD from using Twitter, how is that not possible? People have committed suicide because of internet bullying. Do you think they were faking too? Like I said, responses on this thread remind me why I stopped coming here regularly. This forum has a lot of unchecked abl...

Yes. An autistic person who usually appears stereotypically high functioning can look more or less functional depending upon context - someone who's overwhelmed and overloaded might look stereotypically low functioning and may not even be able to speak, whereas someone who appears to be stereotypica...
