Overall, it's tough to make a Sci-Fi series that is both (techno)logically consistent and dramatically interesting. Often, when people try, they just end up making less sense, such as with Babylon 5 and the Starfury fighter (which looks cool and sensible until you realize that the bulkiness of the ...

The idea for cellphones was inspired by the communicators in Star Trek though. That is just one. Teleporting and Faster Than LIght motions of massive ponderable bodies are just too far out to be taken serious. Take them as entertainment. If someone finds a way of propelling an object with rest mass...

On top of that, Spain had engaged in non-stop (religious) war... A non-warfaring empire would be a contradiction in terms War is something that describes the human condition. Not the political construct. One nation can be granted inhabited land through a trade agreement and legitimately declare its...

How are people on Wallstreet responsible for the Community Reinvestment Act and Freddie Mac (which is Government run), or small bankers responsible for Dodd/Frank? I don't know, how are they? Well I'm not the one supporting Occupy Wallstreet, so I would have thought you would have known... I never ...

So how do all the tea party dumbasses feel about this "following the constitution". They just threw it out the damn window. Sorry, but this is not unreasonable. Any person under arrest, for any reason, is a potential safety risk to officers, employees, other inmates and themselves. Nobody gets a kic...

The U.S. barely had an empire and it lasted for a short time. We had our little adventures in the Carribean and have terminated them. We gave up the loot, the Phillipines, and Cuba and we hang on to Puerto Rico only because the PR folks want us to. No more Panama Canal. Good bye empire. Our decline...

Why do you wish to discourage people from working? Do you think a nation of lazy bodies is a good thing? If retirement plans were purely private (as I think they should be) you would not have much to complain about. If each person drew down from a plan he helped to fund by working, why should he no...

And just to save you from criticising me, or personally attacking my intelligence and thus relevance in this debate: I admit to not knowing much about economic or financial matters. I do know a lot about class struggle. Class my a**. There are only two classes of people. Those who earn their keep a...

Vandalism, pooping on Police cars, etc, is not what I would call peaceful. The libertarians who founded the Tea Party Movement before the Republican Reactionaries and Jesus Freaks hijacked also came to the conclusion. It isn't just ragged leftos who are annoyed. Respectable folk too have had Govern...

Social Security tax on all income, retire at 55, solves all our problems. What if someone does not wish to retire at 55? ruveyn Perhaps it could be worked out that those who wish to continue working may do so, but they cannot draw from SS at the same time. No penalties, no partial distribution, or ...
