I'm playing keys for a band and we have our first paid gig next month, we have to come up with a name urgently. We play world music and various genres including songs in Spanish, French, English, Jazz, Latin, Rock, etc. Our instruments are Violin, Voice, Piano and Drums. I'd like to find a catchy na...

I'm a board games fan generally. I find chess fascinating, but I can't seem to improve in it at all. My opening's OK, but at some point during the middlegame my attention span burns out and I start making utterly stupid moves! Possibly doesn't help that my friends who play are all either a lot wors...

Btw, an acquaintance of mine from my town who is a reporter for the local newspaper always travels by a bicycle. He's about 50, could be a bit more. He's never married and no kids, just cats - so there's no problem if he gets whether he needs to be, no kids to drive around etc. I know of another guy...

For some reason every time I hear of records being destroyed in a fire or other disaster I feel a pinch in my heart..
but if I were to hear a hundred thousand CDs were destroyed I'd be like hehe who cares, down with digital ! xD

dude, you write for "violin" in your score. Unless you actually have to choose a session player based on whatever type of violin he/she has just write the part in the sheet first and let the VST handle it. Or, learn the violin yourself - and you'll see how much electric violin sucks compar...

It's obviously harder to tell electric violin/ digital piano and such in the mix than when they are played solo. And as I told you before, the fact that whatever acoustic/electronic instrument is amped and heard through speakers blurs the difference even further. About choosing which instrument to u...

yeah I get what you say and you are correct. To experience an acoustic instrument best though you have to be in the same room with it and let the soundwave travel to your ears after being amplified acoustically. When you listen to any recording being an electric or an acoustic instrument, the sound ...

Paedophilia is actually a crime in the UK. Even if you're not actually having sex with a child, it is still a crime and is greatly frowned upon. I would never, ever want to be accused of being a paedophile. I hate paedophiles, I think they are disgusting. I know that the vast majority of paedophile...

I didn't know that. That said, Obama single handedly allowed the Iranian regime to progress uninterrupted with their nuclear program by signing a deal (which was then revoked by Trump, out of all people). Regarding climate change, that's true..(Trump doesn't even "believe" in climate chang...

So what? shrug it off. Pedophilia is NOT a crime, it's a sexual orientation. Having a sex with an underaged child IS criminal. Both homosexuality (and necrophilia/ Zoophilia / Pedophilia etc.) are merely sexual deviations from the "straight" (which is what most people are). The only import...

It's not weird to me. But not knowing how to drive greatly increases your dependence on others while lowering your independence , and causing you the feelings of frustration you describe. You can probably use a bike or a bus in a lot of cases but still some places you just need to have a car, and th...

He's obviously not a model citizen, and far from being perfect as a president and even further than perfect as a private person (I believe so, but I don't know him personally). Which is why I said mostly. But as a businessman, his decision making have been largely motivated by the 'cutting a deal' m...

I was wondering how people who make electric string instruments, make them sound like their acoustic counterparts. Acoustic string instruments get their sounds largely from the shape of the bodies, I assume, but since electric string instruments have solid bodies normally, how do they produce a sim...

I don't experience sensory overload but I do share that repulsion to modern pop music. It just doesn't tingle my senses in the right way. It's overly trying to overload one's senses with cheap and senseless excitation tricks. No Harmony, no dynamics, almost no real instrument (even guitar is rare). ...

Obama basically got a Nobel prize for being the first black president... Thus Trump objectively deserves it because he strengthened American - Russian ties, also successfully brokered several historical peace agreements in the Middle East, and basically reverted much of Obamas' bad foreign policy de...
