Congress doesn't want him to. They'd rather he just takes care of it and then they can throw stones at him when he doesn't do it exactly as they'd like.

It depends on which gods you are talking about. A vague creator is not in opposition to science. The claims about Yahweh and his doings in the bible are often opposed to modern findings.

Jesus didn't even get the end of the world right and some yo yo follower of his is going to get it right? If you want to panic think about the nuclear arsenals, as mentioned above, asteroid impacts, solar storms, gamma ray bursts, supervolcanos or airborne ebola. Plenty of ways to end the world as w...

Judaism is a pretty good deal. If you were basing the choice on risk assessment you are better off going with it over Islam or Christianity. The reason being the lack of eternal punishment. A brief purgatory period is the general view whereas the general view in Christianity and Islam is the pit or ...

Explain the difference between daydreaming and prayer.

*Oh great invisible man I'd like to have a magical intervention to make things better. Meanwhile I'll just dream about being king.*

Worth noting that there have been ~1,200 Soyuz launches since the 1960s. Success rate of 97%

Russia has increasing problems with an aging rocket workforce and has seen more failures lately. But I wouldn't count on the mass failure of Russian rocketry.

Looking at the Bible in terms of Old and New Testament is to inherently look at it from a Christian perspective. The "OT" is not a unit of information that was written all at the same time. Lucifer is mentioned in the section of the "OT" referred to as the Prophets by the Jews. The first 5 books of...

Yeah, that store has to operate in that neighborhood. A certain amount of theft is expected in bad neighborhoods and they'll just mark it down as spoilage or some other loss rather than testify against people living nearby. He tried to stop Brown, failed, and let it go. They don't want their store t...

Attorneys for the shop stated that neither the shop owner nor any shop employees reported a robbery and that Michael Brown did in fact pay for the cigars. At around 36/37 second mark in the video of that event, you can see the currency change hands. It doesn't change the fact that he was rude and n...

The Book of enoch does actually refer to the Devil as a fallen angel. The NT draws from this. I loved what the Narrator said about the nature of truth. In interpreting the bible literally Christians end up tangled in apologetic convolutions. So much of the bible is clearly metaphorical and symbolic....

It also takes an enormous investment in security and early warning to avoid mishaps or theft. And even then the superpowers have had failures. Less developed forces are just that much less likely to properly control them.

Satan, capital S, is a later invention. You won't find much on him in the OT. There he's "the satan", more of a prosecutor working for Yahweh in Job. My understanding is that different gnostic groups had different views of what was wrong with Yahweh. To some he was evil, to others he was just incomp...
