Funny & timely. We went to see David Finch at a book signing last night. He discussed what it's like as an Aspie dad. His story was about his wife wanting him to get a bowl of Cheerios for their child. My husband afterwards said, "Yes I can get a waflle for our son", wink, wink. You see, if I as...

We were just discussing weighted blankets and "too warm" of clothing choices with parents at our son's social therapy group. While discussing it, my husband revealed that as a child he liked to crawl between his mattress & boxspring. He said he dreaded when he'd have to come out, because he felt...

Is it paranoia or anxiety you are seeing with her?

To me, it sounds like she needs an evaluation.

CNN <-----(CLICK on CNN...Article linked with study stating meds don't help autism)

I haven't the foggiest idea why people medicate just based on diagnosis. The parents I know that have, have done so to appease the school system or the teachers.

My son was officially diagnosed this fall at age 5. My husband, just about a month ago now. I suggest you have your son diagnosed by a well-versed psychologist in your area that regularly sees Asperger's patients. Once that diagnosis is made, I suggest if you like the psychologist, your husband begi...

cyberdad, we [bJUST][/b] had this talk with our son's psychologist. I swear we just tackle an issue, think we're doing so well...then she springs the "Well, will you continue home schooling next year? We should think about getting him into more social situations" She'd take him in her "social class"...

Michelle, We had to deal A LOT with this during our 5yr old son's worst anxiety this past autumn. Our psychologist had us do some methods that may help you: *When your child gets "stuck" saying or thinking the same thing (he's panicked) try to see if you can have him draw (simple paper & pen) wh...

It is challenging for my husband. He was raised in a situation where he & his two brothers weren't able to shout or fuss. Due to the way he was raised, he has some unreasonable expectations for our 5yr old. Being NT, I'm the one to step in and give suggestions. We're all in therapy right now :wi...

I'm sorry to say that my husband's family gave him the boot at 18. While it did cause him anxiety, he did survive. I'm not saying this young adult needs the boot. I'm saying they need to enlist professional help to transition him to adulthood. My husband is 35. He admits his emotional maturity is st...

Well bluecountry, I may sit and brainstorm for a night on this. For now, to pay the bills, I'd say you need to find a job or two in growing industries (not ones floundering with this economy) so you'll have an easier time getting your foot in the door to land a paying job. Industries that come to mi...

I really can't wait to read this book. We're home schooling our 5yr old. It has become abundantly clear that he prefers minimal instruction with NO review. We had signed him up for various classes from infancy on (swimming/dancing/music-etc) and he seemed frustrated regularly. Once he got brave enou...

It has come to our attention from our psychologist that our son appears to be suffering from symptoms of SAD. She let us know that many of her AS patients are either affected by seasonal changes due to transition issues, have symptoms of SAD, or need treatment for SAD throughout the year. We purchas...
