Hmm, this kind of ties in with what I was saying in the Symptom or Core? thread. Many of the symptoms of autism could be caused by other issues, like social anxiety, and the lack of empathy/ability to read body language, could just be because if you don't grow up socializing normally, you just don't...

I did lists like that before. One thing I tried was tasks on very small yellow stickies, which could be repositioned. One thing that definitely works is set a time of day for a very short period to do these things. It might sound ridiculously too little but is a lot more than none! Time management c...

What were the small things she noticed Kimberly? There were two specific areas. One was eye contact. But not general eye contact. I've learned to mimic standard eye contact. During the test I was careful to be myself - without embellishing my symptoms. I know I have problems with eye contact, so I ...

A hobbit ;-) Then an artist, but I'm not great at that, though maybe I'm getting there, more like a farmer now, more like a hobbit, but it doesn't pay well and looks like I'm gonna have to figure something else out again. Oh yeah, about 15 years ago I tried going back to college for geography cause ...

I'll add to that: state in simple words to yourself what kind of job you *do* want (geek in a closet or whatever) then tell them you are going to look for that kind of job. Perhaps they have such a position - stranger things have happened.

Yeah, a zillion tiny blackheads mostly on my nose. The rosacea thing is kind of similar and can also be made worse by stress or situations that make you blush, I'm pretty sure I've not had the red color.

Ack, I'm done with this discussion, I've been rubbing my nose a lot since bringing it up 8O

I think of it as more like a tic but I guess it is due to itchiness, however there's no runny nose or anything like that and I've done it since I was a kid. From what I read, itchy nose and ears is a normal response to stress/anxiety. It isn't rosacea; no red flushing face. I do have a certain amoun...

An odd thing I've always done is rubbing my nose in a particular way, stroke down with two fingers to get both sides, thenswipe across the bottom and the lips, sometimes that part is several movements. Looking this up, in regards to body gesture, nose touching/rubbing is widely considered a sign of ...

Alright, I'll add some thoughts. And try to keep it in manageable chunks. First, the thread title: Symptom or Core? is an inquiry as to whether some aspects are shared with folks who have other diagnosis' (depression would be mine, and mild inattentive ADHD) but more interestingly whether some of th...

First post here. I'm not much of an aspie I suppose, but can relate to the syndrome. I've come upon this through 'working' with an autistic kid - well, more like playing with him :-) It has been surprising how well we get along and maybe that's just because I'm finally old enough to relax and have f...
