I'm not a fan of the autobiographies.
Reading about someone's life is boring.

Oh I remember this project. The researcher gave me hundreds of photos for me to guess if autistic or neurotypical people took each set of ~30 photos. I found the sets indistinguishable and could not do this task because it was really boring to look at photos of the same offices and the outside of on...

Do you want to become more independent of your parents? Are you able to learn a skill and try to support yourself? At 31, you are not too old to do this. Talk to your parents about what you can do now to prepare yourself for your future life. Your parents might be worrying too what will happen to yo...

A good public school in a good neighborhood is fine, public schools are not all bad for autistic kids.
I think there is value in going to public school.
If I had a child, I wouldn't put them in a special autism school, and I think private school is unnecessary unless you live in a bad school district.

I feel fine, not unsafe about the election.
Looking forward to voting.
Have to figure out what this year's propositions are about.

For me, not being productive to give myself a break lasts at most 2 days if it falls on a weekend, usually 1 day or less if on a weekday, like I might blow off the rest of the day after lunch. The next day, I get back to being productive. Something that lasts longer, gets worse over time, and does n...

I don't think you can get much from this.
Photos are too static to tell much about autistic traits.
Most autistic children who look normal physically look normal in photos.

Telling people that you have autism seems an ineffective strategy for them to understand you.
Statements like "I do X because of autism" or "I am Y because of autism" seem especially ineffective.

Did you take him to a neurologist too?
I would do that, in case he has some more specific brain disorder going on.

I have an example of dealing with sensory work wells for me. Often, I have to do experiments in a lab where there are 10 machines making 10 different loud noises, bright fluorescent lights, liquid nitrogen tank that vents scarily every 10 minutes, and automated computer voices announcing that your s...

I don't think it is possible to entirely get rid of special interests and sensory overload, but there are ways to deal with them to make them less problematic. For special interests that interfere with things you need or want to do, remember that the special interest is there, waiting for you to hav...

Unfortunately, there is not much on neuroscience of autism, like an accessible overview of research about autistic brain. There are many good popular science books on neuroscience in general. Look for the ones written by neuroscientists like Dehaene, Damasio, Koch, etc. It is good to have understand...

I don't need any place where people have to limit what they say to suit me.
It is fine for people say what they want within the forum rules of no personal attacks.
I prefer free discussion, not echo chamber.
