I met most of the people I became friends with through going to shows, working with them at jobs and community volunteer projects like the bike collective. I do a lot of projects , so it's usually the people who do similar things as me, or people that I have done stuff with/or in the past, who I han...

Lecks, there wasn't one where I lived at the time. I had to start it myself. It was informal, just a handful of men meeting once a week at someone's house ... whoever had the quietest house with the least distractions at the moment. Finding a place where nobody is going to interrupt you is pretty im...

I used to work with a total narcissist (lets call the person N). This was in a collective run business, where all the workers owned it and had to make decisions by unanimous consensus every week. The person would emotionally bully other people and subtly turn them against each other to get people to...

kenG, I was under the impression from Alex's original posts that a big part of the fest was bridging the gap between the Autistic Community and potential employers and regular old people. More of a "hey yalls, this is who we are" than a "this is for us who are like each other" thing. That would be "...

I've been lurking this thread regularly. I made a demo of the Brainstorm design logo but never received a definite enough response to it to go ahead with making a final official logo. If I get an approval on that, then it'd be something to tag onto solicitations from sponsors, etc. But the questions...

two-tone man What does this mean? When skin color is uneven because of dead skin/dirt build up due to a person not bathing regularly. That's happened to me before when I was hopping trains or biking cross country, but it definitely didn't prevent people from hitting on me. You must habg out with a ...

I just want to confirm, not all woman only want a guy with rock hard abs and big arms? Like, maybe it would be nice but it's not a deal breaker type thing. Honestly, I'm not even joking either, I'm really curious. There's no such thing as "all women like _____," unless you're saying "all women like...

To the OP, that sentiment is common enough to inspire songs:

But it's not for me to judge
I don't know if you're beautiful
Because I love you too much

If anything, I would think that autism was more prevalent 150 years ago than it is today. Before the "industrial revolution," there was more demand for people with detailed craft skills liek cobbling, smithy, weaving and hand sewing ... repetitive work that required a higher degree of tactile and vi...

We have a goods and sales tax here in Auzz a 10% one to do it we got rid of a whole lot of hidden taxes and I think it worked out very well over the last 14 years we have mostly had balanced budgets or surpluses. Does this work the same as the Value Added Tax in Britain? It is 15% (I think) on all ...

To the OP's first question: Hyperlexia sure looks a lot like AS at younger ages, but people usually grow out of it by college age. This can lead to the impression that some people grow out of Aspergers, as opposed to the more typical "learns how to integrate better in society" kind of grow out of it.

Just a "cats" section would be fine, as a compromise. :P But...I have a dog and a cat, and I might get a bunny. It's good you have a cat, then you'll have something to talk about in the "cats" forum. I want to get a raven, but you don't see me gadding about complaining about how there's no raven fo...

I'd never invest in the stock market, because I feel like leeching off someone else's labor for profit is stealing, and I'm not into that so much. If you play the stock market, please spare us all and don't go around complaining about how everyone is in debt up to their eyeballs.
