I think the fact that the first day of a new school year was the next day is probably key here. I remember those days clearly as they were always the high points of the year for anxiety. It's not surprising it passed his breaking point when he was forced off the computer and it all came crashing bac...

I can most of the time if it's lobbed gently and I use both hands but if it's moving even at the speed of a slow overhand pitch I can't see it anymore and have to guess at its trajectory.

You assume that those who care about the few ignore the plight of the many, which would be incorrect. I wouldn't say ignore more like place less importance on. Sure it's historically significant but it's still history as in it has already happened, cannot be changed, and is not influencing current ...

Agnosticism is not "just fence sitting". It is an episthemological position. However, absolute skepsis, accurate or not, is not useful in approximating truth. It is a mindset of lazy fatalism - which is naturally also a valid option. *shrug* I just find it annoying how agnostics seem to think they'...

Agnosticism is the religion of those afraid to be wrong or even make a decision. "There might be a god or there might not be." Yeah we know but that doesn't answer the question as to whether you believe there is or not it's just fence sitting by atheists who are afraid the theists might be right and...

What does it matter? War is hell innocent people get hurt and really bad stuff happens. If you don't like it don't support wars. "But think of the children on that ship!" What about them? 10 times that number die every day in more horrible and painful circumstances. Fix that first. They were just a...

Most animals have a nervous system and can feel pain and suffering most also have a way of communicating this to others of their kind who have an empathic response (human empathy is older than human intelligence and comes from our animal ancestors). This causes the animal receiving the communication...

simple: Some people want to know the truth , but everyone wants to know a secret . Bingo. Secrets are social currency you buy and trade influence in relationships with them (to oversimplify and put things bluntly) the more popular or successful the owner of the secret the more valuable it is (as yo...

plus a minor miracle or two (such as regenerating somebody's missing limb). What if God can't break his own laws of physics? He walked on water, didn't he? And what abut all those health-related miracles he performed? 1st century medical science(?) could not possibly have reproduced -let alone expl...

The journalists I think believe they are simply being thorough but your right in that they especially in recent years are trying harder and harder when something bad happens to point blame at someone and the problems that person has as an explanation as to why it happened. Hopefully most people are ...

Throwing shoes at President Bush? Too funny.

I would lock him in a cage with monkeys throwing feces at him!

But when you went to take him back out you'd never be able to figure out which is him.

Just kidding (or am I?).

I'd just make him live in Iraq without a personal army of bodyguards.
