Oh, it's this way whether I like it or not. I just don't like that much attention. I can't pinpoint why... My birthday is Saturday, and now my mother in law is all but ordering me to go with her to order my birthday cake. I think that this is a very irregular thing to do, but my partner and her whol...

Anyone else have this problem? I hate receiving gifts, HATE being watched opening them. Dislike eating around people. Am horrified by a birthday dinner, for example, being cooked for me. Am I alone in this? If not, how do you handle it? Just grit your teeth and deal? Has anyone found a polite way of...

Sometimes, it seems that I "choose" my emotions, by taking physical information (shaky, stomach feels funny, sweaty palms) and trying to identify what it means, meaning that I'm considering myself "excited" when in reality it's "nervous" or even hypoglycemic, so I'm responding in an "excited" way, w...

This seems like it'd be such an obvious AS problem that there has to be another thread on the topic, but I didn't see one in a brief look-over and I don't have time to hunt for it, so forgive me if this has already been covered. I'm terribly overstimulated by the holidays. The lights, the games, the...

One of my quirks is that I adore lists. I have since I was a kid. I'd make lists of useless, trivial things - long ones. I'd fill notebooks. Every movie I'd seen. Every song I liked. Every dachshund I'd ever met. I eventually had to recognize the pointlessness of it, but I kind of had a little menta...

A few people told me that I had an "avoidant" personality, and I considered OCD. The first time I read anything about AS, I was like, "OH. THAT'S what's wrong with me, okay."

I have a stuffed bear that I've had since I was four, she's positively molded to the shape of my chest. I'll cuddle up with it if I'm sleeping alone or profoundly stressed. That said, the idea of carrying with me a backpack of everything one could need to survive is so incredibly appealing to me, I ...

I looooved Barbie dolls. I didn't realize until much later that it was, in theory, unusual to still be playing with them at 13 or 14. One day it just dawned on me and I sheepishly put them in a box. That box, however, is still in my basement, and if I didn't feel so silly, I'd happily break it out t...

On a totally off-topic note, Yahtzee makes me cringe every time those damn dice hit the table. I ought to make a thread about that.

She didn't have a "problem" with it, per se, but she didn't understand - it wasn't rock concert noise or anything, but sudden, sharp noises like playing Yahtzee or fireworks.

FRANKLY, I wouldn't mind if the whole world was as I was! It would probably be pretty nice! Of course, I WOULD want about 1/2 to be female, and hopefully pretty. 8-) THINK OF IT! No real stupidity! No senseless put downs! No provirus acts, etc... Respect for others! Altruistic! No crazy lawsuits fo...

It's winter here, and my heater has broken down. I can.not.handle.cold. I really just want to stomp my foot and shut down and hibernate and cry. Feeling physically miserable 24/7 is taking a huge toll on every other part of my life. Being too cold, too often and trying to do math are the two things ...
