I answered yes to almost every question... Which was kind of comforting in a way, since some things I always thought were weird and unusual and wasn't sure if they would fit well with Aspergers or not. I'm just glad I'm not to only one who can relate to this.

I don't have any friends IRL, but I don't often feel lonely. I have my cockatiel who is an acceptable companion for someone like me. He sleeps when I sleep, eats when I eat, says hello when I walk into the room and likes sitting on my shoulder while I play video games or read or watch movies. I don'...

I don't think Dahmer was autistic. He was very manipulative and cunning and on some sociological level, he was a genius. He had the ability to influence thoughts, he convinced a police officer that he was a relative of one of his victims... I've seen many interviews and documentaries about Dahmer an...

I have the opposite problem. The last time I had to meet with someone, I was buying a computer game off them. I waited for three hours, but they never showed up. It's the same with appointments, I'm always at least an hour early. I don't think I've ever been late for appointments unless it's someone...

I have for the past year, but that's also for tourettes & OCD. I don't like it at all and am going to be studying in February so that I can get off of it and eventually get into a good job. While I still have my disabilities, I feel like I can still earn my own money and contribute to society, i...

I stare way too much and usually end up making people feel uncomfortable. For instance, this woman had her zip down by accident I guess, and I stood there for about 3 minutes starting at her crotch while she talked to me. I felt like I couldn't pull my eyes away, it was very embarrassing. Oth...

"as this would be empathy" Are you implying that we are incapable of experiencing empathy? I've cried in films, not many and they have usually always been about animals rather than people. I tend to avoid those kinds of films now, so can't remember the last time I've cried during one. I am very cons...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Keep getting banned on forums

I have never been banned, but I often make a fool of myself and leave voluntarily. I have a difficult time restraining myself from saying something after I've read another thing that spikes a lot of anger and usually end up insulting people (intentionally). Though in my defense, people can be comple...

I mostly read to learn. I have a hard time finding fiction that is good enough to keep me interested. There's so much tripe out there, but non-fiction is something I can easily read all day long. I'm not sure if I have trouble getting "emotionally" invested in a story or not, but I often don't feel ...

They always give me such a fright and I find myself covering my ears and shuddering until the noise is gone. It's just so shrill and loud, if I was walking across a street and an emergency vehicle comes screaming around the corner, I often wonder if I would be able to get myself out of the way or ju...

Stimming means stimulation. Flapping is a specific stimulation, so calling all stimulations a "flap" wouldn't make much sense to me. I dislike the word more than "stim" as well.

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Should I tell my autistic daughter to go to bed

I get pissed off at anyone who tries to enforce a bedtime on me. I am an adult, so I'll go to bed when I like.
If she wants to sleep on the couch, I see nothing wrong with that. If you are curious to know why she likes to sleep on the couch, ask her why.

You forgot another reason. Doctors and specialists and the like have the ability to rule out certain things. So if it's not aspergers, it could be something else that might be treatable, or aided with cognitive therapy or whatever. I'm not a doctor or a therapist, but I know they have helped me in t...

I think you're better off visiting your doctor and maybe getting a referral. That is if you're actually troubled by the possibility. It's possible you do have it, it's possible you don't. We're not doctors here, so we can't give you a definitive yes or no answer. I'm guessing the game you mentioned ...
