I used to have the same issue. Especially with girls. The problem was that I didn't care about the conversation itself, just "bonding" with whoever I was attempting to talk to, so the conversation would die because I was trying to create "small talk" but didn't care about the sma... |

Sounds good, I want to hear more! I've found it helpful to pretend like the other person is lonely and in need of a friend, so that I am doing them the favor by ring friendly, not the other way around. With this attitude, I am able to think of things to say and questions to ask far easier, and I th... |

Projecting confidence was spoken about a lot when I did sales training many years back. I worked for a credit counseling company that was founded by some crooked wall street guys and a guy with a masters in psychology and a very good way with words. But they always preached that if spoke calmly and... |

Yes, I'm not only outgoing, but I have a weird form of social skills that may not be normal, but they work very well. |

I have some very helpful advice about making friends and developing social skills I would like to share with the autistic community, and I have compiled this into an essay I've polished to the best of my abilities. Segment from the essay: Basically, the entire social ladder is literally built upon v... |

Mimicry is a sign of attraction. That, or she has a similar background to you, and consequently has similar mannerisms. I wouldn't confront her about it. If she starts talking to you, then she probably kinda likes you. If she hardly looks at you, then she just has a similar background. I ignore prac... |

Hahaha, ohhhh. Yeah. I did that when I was a kid. From what you're describing, it sounds like he, like me and many other aspies, could have a VERY difficult time transitioning from one activity from the next. I would get REALLY into something, then my Mom would try to get me to change activity, I wo... |

Being autistic is totally awesome. We may have challenges, but SO do neurotypicals, (People without autism) and just because those challenges are different does NOT mean we are any less than NT's. (Neurotypicals) I mean we're aren't BETTER than NT's, but NT's aren't exactly better than us. We are on... |

Thank you. I assume that if you're just passionate about producing that it doesn't matter what people think Yeah, I've found the more you as a person enjoy your work, the more others do. Of course, you need to have some kind of skill so your work isn't just a bunch of circles and cubes stacked on t... |

I'm a comic artist with zero connections in the animation or comic industry, but I do have a lot of social connections and can say that (for me anyway) it's usually pretty easy to re-start relationships by simply treating them as if there never was an issue. The less of a deal you make over previous... |

This article was an awesome read, albeit a very difficult one. You know it's weird; I grew up developing a mask before everyone knew what autism is. Eventually, I got sick of trying to hide, and just let my colors fly. I learned 2 things from such. That being: 1. If you're insecurely or defensively ... |

It's as if everyone has this vacuum of self confidence, and they really really want more, so they either flock towards those with more of it, or steer clear of those who have less, fearing their greater empty vacuum will suck away what confidence they have left. It's an analogy, and it's not perfect... |

I don't know what it's like to have NT social skills, but I'm writing a post about having exceptional autistic social skills right now. I figured the way NT's think socially was a mystery enough that I'd be better off just doing what I do so long as it works. |

People have told me I'm "stiff", "abrupt", and the one I get the most (Since I'm a very socially unaware and clumsy, but also socially outgoing and confident) that I'm "Just my own kind of person." Basically the perspective I get from others is "eccentric" and... |
