When I used to live with housemates they would give me a hard time because they never saw me with any of my friends or I never brought them around. I in fact used the word compartmentalize and they informed me how that was quite weird. This was before diagnosis or even suspicion of an ASD mind you. ...

I am a little late to this one but I have to agree with CharityFunDay. I really started losing my hair at 17. I found it very stressful even though, like you, no one really mentioned it. I just knew it. I finally gave up fighting it at around 20 or so. Cut it off. The maintenance is so much less, yo...

I don't use Netflix, so I'm not sure if they have it, but i recommend the 2009 movie "Moon". Plot: With only three weeks left in his three year contract, Sam Bell is getting anxious to finally return to Earth. He is the only occupant of a Moon-based manufacturing facility along with his computer an...

Its the worst when a girl with strong perfume comes through the shop where I work; I will have difficulty focusing for at least twenty minutes after they leave. And then I can still smell their trail all through the store for another half an hour. I can't stand more than a few seconds in the cleaner...

Yes. Not only people though. I "study" the world around me a lot (probably more than people). I see it, think about it, look for patterns etc. I often think of myself as an observer. Agreed. I tend to see the people around me as just more pieces of the world around me, same as animals, cars, plants...

Yes! I always try and drain it out without looking.

I LOVE food with little bits in it; tapioca, crunchy peanut butter, yogurt with bits of fruit, soup with rice in it, super pulpy orange juice. I absolutely can not stand cooked carrots, all mushy when they should be crunchy. No good. I dislike mushy cooked vegetables in general but especially carrots.

It's a processing issue. You're thinking about the problem/issue/topic, coming up with a thought, and working from there. However, and I do this myself, sometimes the idea does'nt come out right verbally the first time (or the second). This is far more prevailant in an enviroment with multiple verb...

I think your cortex is just hard wired for obsessive and repetitive behavior. I love obsessions. I live for obsessions. To me they are not torture. It would be torture to take them away. My understanding is that in the Autistic/Aspergers brain neurons form fewer and weaker long distance connections ...

I had a very intense hemp macrame phase in high school until it came to the point where my ability to imagine complex designs in my mind outstripped my ability to actually produce these designs. As is often the case, my disappointment in myself was catastrophic. While I do not feel as though it is ...

These posts certainly describe me as well. I think a big reason why I burn out is when my reality is no longer able to keep up with my imagination. The OP mentioned hemp jewelry; I had a very intense hemp macrame phase in high school until it came to the point where my ability to imagine complex des...

I selected Other. But I suppose I might be a pattern thinker? I think in concepts. Silent, just understanding. A deep sense of knowing. Sensing the relationship of things, how one thing is to another. Sort of like a feeling, but more informational and rational. I'm not sure how to classify this. I ...

I too cycle, from being completely absorbed to becoming burned-out, on most everything. This is a major reason why I have yet to get myself to go to college or pursue a real career. I have never had anyone accuse me of being immature before, and I do not think that is what is going on here.
