My 5yo son was at the dentist a couple of months ago for a cleaning. He was asked about how many teeth he had lost and which new ones were growing in, he pointed to his mouth and added, "and I hatched this one!" He also hates riding in the car and having other cars go faster than us. So if another c... |

All the storylines and characters from last season vanished without a word. No Charlotte, Cesar, RayRay, Linder, Brother Bob, they moved Eva out of the picture quickly, Alma and kids are gone, Tate disappeared, Kitty, Daniela was taken at the end of last season and oh well, she's just gone. No more... |

We had oscillating fans when I was a kid. I would crave the moment the fan's breeze hit me directly. I would be immersed in and lulled by the counting of seconds between times the fan would come back to blow in my direction. My son was highly drawing to spinning objects, ceiling fans being one of th... |

LOL...."Going postal" has become the general term which applies to an employee going crazy, and shooting up a workplace. If a teacher decides to shoot up his/her school, he/she has "gone postal." True, but how about a public school system employee heavy chip on the shoulder grown by the daily expos... |

There must be a parallel term for that, the way postal workers "go postal"--
Let's come up with something good. Anyone? |

Having worked in the school system, yeah, this is the equivalent of throwing dog crap in a punch bowl. It would like saying, Grandpa really loves his young, pretty lady doctor. *crickets* Why they (not me) would be upset. Who cares who your son gets as a teacher? Supposedly all are adequate educato... |

Yes, my point is that to the child it's an innocent preference - but in general, when a woman's youth and looks come up in adult conversation the connotation is different. Plus, the fact that I'm a female who said it (versus a man) I thought would render it an innocent question, but I was sadly mis... |

When I was pregnant, my doctor asked me what I knew about having kids. The only thing I could think of was an echolalia fueled brain fart which was something my mom said about not having three kids or the middle one will be very unhappy. (My aunt had 3 kids and they were pretty awful to the middle ... |

Many people in other parts of the United States count the diverse peoples of my area as not quite real Americans, but they are wrong. Chinatown is every bit as much a part of America as Charleston or Cheyenne. Very true. And for this very reason that America never assigned itself a national language. |

I didn't think it was such a terrible question either, which is why I asked it! Then my husband points out that in one sentence I managed to be ageist and -- I forget the other thing he said. |

Sooooo.... I attended my son's IEP meeting last week. All went well. A room full of female teachers and therapists all gathered to talk about my darling dear son. We are all on the same page about what his issues are and what needs work. At the end of our session, I asked who his teacher next year w... |

So, was there a different way to approach it to obtain actual logical answers to my questions? I think that trying to explore a very pedestrian issue with a sophisticated approach is where you fell flat. If you had approached this topic from the angle you did with more professorial/academic types w... |

Ooops also, "violins" can refer to someone playing violin music for dramatic effect. Meaning, if you seem to be creating a drama or reacting overly dramatic to something, someone will type "violins" to indicate that you're being whiney, or getting bent out of shape, or something of the sort. It's b... |
