I don't think this is the right thread for THAT discussion. It's inappropriate for me to share how I achieve happiness, but not inappropriate for someone else to? Buddhism is a religious belief, but yet it's not referred to as 'THAT' discussion. Atheism is also a religious belief, but yet contempor... |

So is Christianity. Both are for self-pleasure, but opposite sources. The source of pleasure for a Christian is to do the will of God over and above what self wants. This concept is unfathomable for people who have never experienced the love of God. Fortunately happiness is not dependant on religio... |

New habits take time and practise, as you all have mentioned. It is /was the same for me. But as it becomes habitual it mostly becomes easier.
One other observation I use to help in happiness is that life can be difficult at times, why make it harder by having neg thoughts about it and ourselves? |

The time involved in applying the things one needs to do to achieve happiness is not mentioned in the quotes above.
I've been practising and refining for years, and SLOWLY been getting better at it. |

The God, no God argument, while interesting, in most forms I've seen, doesn't make either case very well. The Christian and other versions of a supposedly loving and interventionist creator, clearly have some severe logic problems, not least of which is "How can a loving god that has the power to in... |

Second, and more important, you have causation backwards. While we are changing as a species (and there is no question that we are), ASDs are not a cause of that change, they are potentially evidence that this change is underway. I don't believe I've suggested that AS is the cause of itself (the ch... |

this TED talk is simiar: http://www.ted.com/talks/juan_enriquez_will_our_kids_be_a_different_species.html Exactly. I've seen this before. Thanks. He makes the case better than I can, though he doesn't go into the differences in social signalling involved in the mutation, if that's what it actually ... |

I've been thinking about this one some more, and I have to readjust my obsessions as minor in the case of Asperger's and merely persistent interests as the others. I have had major obsessions in the past, and in comparison these listed a pale shadow. The trouble is I'm finishing renovations and I'm ... |

This is fantasy. Nothing more. Genetic differentiation requires thousands of generations. Our specific differentiation from our nearest genetic relatives, the chimpanzees, took place five million years ago--roughly 250,000 generations. Our species achieved its current anatomical form about 200,000 ... |

Species differentiation necessarily requires that the two species cannot interbreed and create fertile offspring. So long as Autistics and NTs can create fertile offspring, we will continue to be the same species. I am married to an NT (56 years now) Only one of our kids showed any sign of Asperger... |

While some are happy to exploit others for personal gain, does it really matter what system they do it under? Ways will be found.
I suggest rather than concentrating on the system, we concentrate on our lack of concern for one another's wellbeing. This is the cause of our problems. |

In Australia we have a more socialistic model than the US it would seem. This works well, though is being erroded from US corporate pressure. Some check needs to be placed on runnaway corporate greed, and some susidy is needed for those who can't cut it in a competitive economy. When power/wealth ge... |

I was attracted by the forum name. Wrong Planet. I always felt like some alien cuckoo. I had a few friends, but found socializing with others extremely difficult, and still do but not so much cause now I don't care. I was the smart kid that sat up the back and looked out the window, didn't pay much ... |

Actually this is not the process of species differenciation, this is the result. When did I suggest otherwise? As the topic is about process, then what was the point of stating the obvious end result or the current state of play? There are a number of closely related species that don't normally int... |
