I am 50+ and I know that I have NLD. Life has been very difficult for me and in some ways I thought that this made me special and having the diagnosis has taken the specialness away from me. I realized that I had NLD about 6 years ago when my son was diagnosed with it. It helped me to understand why...

Reality is the fine line between denial and paranoia. Delusioinal would be beleiving that two passenger planes obliberated three skyscrapers and ignoring all the little lines that connect the dots.

Yes, it serves only as an example of the lack of empathy the NT's have for a diverse group of people such as ourselves.

Yes I am over and 50 still working as a special education teacher ( getting harder to do that ), I'm twice divorced with two kids that I raised as a single mom and five grandkids that I love and wish I had more time and energy for. I lost my mom in 2010. I miss her so much. My life has been very dif...

I was very nervous about learning to drive and failed the driving test so many times that I am surprised they let me keep taking it ( I never tell that ). I was scared but the more I drove the easier it became. I am super careful when I drive but not too slow. Sometimes I get too stressed to drive b...

There is fluoride in the water supply where I live and I have started drinking distilled water and using a non fluoride toothpaste that I order online. I haven't noticed any specific changes yet but it has only been a few months. I know I still get some fluoride since I have to use the water for man...

I am the very same way and then people will comment on how quiet that I am which only makes it more difficult to start a conversation. I am the worst in a small group like going to lunch with a few people and I am a single mother and don't have a lot of time to get out other than work. Once when I w...

NT's love to talk the talk but not so good at walking the walk. Good people are honest, fair and say what they mean. ASD promotes these characteristics as a means of survival in a world that we find difficult to understand. The NT's have always ruled the world. Go figure.

I think most of us have bad days when stress overwhems us and you just have to know it will pass and that things will get better. There is treatment for anxiety and depression but the ASD itself has it's upside as well as it's down side. Being NT doesn't look too much like a cakewalk to me. The main...

I think that the illusion of social order is a curse on mankind and we suffer from the effects of that even if we are not flawed enough to buy into it.

I have Asperger's and my spirituality is just as much a part of me as my physical body. I can't imagine being limited by this world and not knowing that there is something that is so much more. I take that into account with everything that I do. To me that is the big picture. The only one that reall...

I have NLD and I have almost no visual recall. I think entirely in words. I can only get flashes of images of anything I want to see in my mind. I cannot see the details. It makes life exhausting for so many reasons.

I am respectful and polite to everyone and I used to think that it was because of my ASD but now I think that it has to do with my inability to relate to the social order thing that allows me to treat people the same, ASD people are are often rude and impolite to everyone without regard to social or...

My dad is a hoarder. He used to keep all his junk out in a garage but since my mom died it is creeping into the house and it is a battle to keep him clean and the house liveable. He has a meltdown if he sees throwing anything away but if we can get it out behind his back, he never misses it. There i...
