I say this as someone who has been a member for just 18 months or so, so I am conscious there will be those who have been around for much longer. It's just that I have got a lot out of the helpful advice and simply reading posts over the last 15 months. But roughly around the time the site changed ... |

I never knew autism alert bracelets or cards existed. I'm not sure I'd use one, but I sure need a Medic Alert Encyclopedia for all my medical conditions in an emergency where I might not be able to respond. |

I think this is an excellent idea! I've been looking for something like this--at least in Canada. Even if it's the UK, it's still something I've been searching for. If I knew more about business, I'd love to help. |

I grew up in a terrible, high crime, working class environment and I'll never go back. Now I live in a sleepy small town and love it, except that everything closes by 6pm. |

If you're getting akathesia, you need to get off whatever medication is causing it as safely and quickly as possible. I had it, and yes, it's absolute torture. |

There shouldn't be any negative connotation to being disabled, but there is. As a result I wish I didn't have to identify as disabled, but I have physical disabilities as well as ASD/ADHD/etc, and grew up with the label. Hated it and only gaining self-acceptance now. |

I was born premature and there were several complications. I was in the hospital over a month after I was born. Same, except I was in the hospital for a longer time. I have birth-related complications as a result of being born so early. I suspect my ASD/AS is a result of my premature birth; the syn... |

You may not like it now, DevilKisses, but you'll like looking young for your age when you get older.
I'm in my 30s and was mistaken for a minor two days in a row. |

@SteelMaiden - I sympathize and empathize with you. Though I am not schizophrenic I suffer from various different medical conditions (some of which I share with you) including ASD that impact my daily life and prevent me from living independently. ASD, ADHD, visual impairment/legal blindness, cerebr... |

Everyone who lives on a farm is a child laborer to some extent. True, but the term "child labor" itself has rather negative connotations involving the exploitation of the children. I would hardly use the term "exploitation" in reference to working as a kid on the family farm. My... |

I was on Lorazepam, one of those addictive meds. I'd say it helped more than other medications they have tried to give me in the past, but I suppose anything is better than an anti-depressant. Definitely something you wouldn't wanna take everyday, I was real careful with that. When I did take it I ... |
