Thanks, EmeraldGreen! (I didn't notice it was my WP anniversary until you mentioned it! :P) I managed to persevere and grind out all of the work I needed to submit on time. I just received my results, B for each unit, which was my goal minimum and surprisingly better than I would have expected given...

QuiversWhiskers and Laddo, you speak with the wisdom of experience on this topic. I've been in the same position too. The combination of believing that nobody else understands and being very lonely is potent.

It's important to focus on how you make others feel, for example interested in what they have to say, humour is enjoyable, and be careful of whatever makes them feel bad such as criticism and gloominess. What makes people feel good they will want more of. It's important to focus on how *they* make ...

I expect that he didn't realise what a jerk he was, or remembers it differently. If it's possible not to hold a grudge, I think it's best just to let it go - he was an adolescent at the time after all.

If you're feeling that way then there's something wrong, although he may not be aware. I suggest letting him know that it's a problem and that the more he behaves in those ways the less you will want to see him. Does he have any or many other friends? That would help him to spread out his focus rath...

Yes, passing well is not everything. The extreme prejudice and very much higher risk of violence against trans people should be given due consideration also. Look up the stats. It helps to appreciate how brave those who choose transition are. There are some well-intentioned thoughts here, but at the...

I live with gender dysphoria too, I'm in a tall and broad-shouldered male body, huge hands and feet, deep voice, I'd would never pass as a woman. If there was such a thing as male brain/female brain I would definitely be female brained, but I'm not convinced ... So much is culturally shaped, brains...

Yes, this is what I needed to be told. Thank you again. I wrote the post above with an assumption that it was my brain's inability to continue doing what I needed it to do, whereas it's really quite easy work. In your reply you take it as given that it's a motivational problem, and your suggestions ...

If you identify as bi-sexual, you shouldn't be ashamed, but segments of the gay community sure as hell make it feel as though you should. Sad but true. My theory is that it's because the gay identity is based on same-sex attraction vs the straight world's prejudice, a kind of 'us vs them' mentality...

Thank you very much for sharing. It's kind and generous of you. I was just about to post these questions for anyone with such success in continual mental work... Do you ever feel like you've not just burnt out, but fried your brain and can't go on, but somehow manage to? How do you spend your breaks...

I have the same problem. There can be many causes. One of the main ones for me is overinclusion. I create more work than necessary for myself, and very often overcomplicate things. One skill I'm working on atm is learning to pick out the essentials better, that is, those key tasks which will give th...

Yes, thank you EmeraldGreen. I will try music. The phrase "find a way to engage and get rolling" helps too, to clarify and focus on what I should be aiming for.

Depression was an issue too, work habits, stress, and a really good friend I care about a lot has apparently been lying to me which has made me very emotional and my studies have suffered because of it. I've made a lot of progress in learning to deal with things, improved work habits etc. and it's a...
