Agreed about recording the session if it's legal in your state.

I really hope you get away from that evil therapist soon. You do not deserve to be treated like that. *hugs*

In many circumstances, I'm quite the BS detector. 8) Unfortunately, there's just so much of it to detect! Ugh.

I can't think of any at the moment, but a lot of my jokes involve pretending to take things literally. My mom, also an Aspie, often doesn't get that I'm joking and either gets confused or explains what she said as if I really took it literally. I guess that's kind of funny in and of itself, but it c...

If I'm really lucky, I might have a bachelor's degree by 30. I don't expect to be ready for a job in my major until my mid-to-late 30s, but I'll get there eventually, God willing.

I'm hopefully going back to college soon, which means that I'll once again be up against my number one meltdown-inducer, homework. HELP. Seriously, I will hugely appreciate any advice you can give that will make homework even the slightest bit more bearable. Even homework related to my special inter...

Oh, my!! I don't think I've ever heard of a Maryland Department of Developmental Disabilities, for instance. I've gone to an agency for job training skills, called DORS, but I think that's the Feds also. I've also been to a Housing Agency (Section 8), but they were the Feds, TOO!! I'm definitely go...

I agree with those who said that you should check out the new place ahead of time, perhaps several times. Also, familiarize yourself with the surrounding area and the route you'll need to get there. Maybe use Google Maps and inspect everything on Street View if it's there. What I would do when start...

Well, I'm a little confused by your question. Do you mean what happens when you apply for Disability? (That's a FEDERAL, not state, benefit.) No, I mean state agencies. They're usually called something like (State Name) Department of Developmental Disabilities. I don't think they give benefits, but...

I hated them. I can't believe they wouldn't let you hold your ears! I'm so sorry that happened. That is just cruel. Were you diagnosed then? If you ever have an autistic child, you can try to get something in his/her IEP about fire drills. They might not let him/her out before the alarm rings, but i...

I've never tried it, but it sounds like it could work very well!

Can you try to get accommodations? I think in most colleges you can request them at any time It doesn't necessarily have to be the beginning of the year/term.
