I think this highlights some of the reason I continue to use Aspergers instead of Autism. Classical autism was always brain damage or malformation. Even Hans Asperger thought that the reason for the four boys he studied failing to demonstrate social integration was because of some defect that might ...

A few years back what was called Aspergers was lumped in with Autism. Some people today call it "high functioning Autism". I still use the term Aspergers because I feel that it is more specific. Here is a link to a free pdf booklet describing Aspergers as an intentional (as opposed to a re...

If you think of public school as a factory that processes a product (children), one might expect that not all products can be processed easily. While some factories attempt to work with non-compliant products, they are limited. For this reason many consider homeschool. Here is a free pdf booklet abo...

Some people use the spoken name to put someone else in their place, like a power play. Some try to help themselves remember a name. The Family Guy Star Wars episode had C3PO accuse the main character of not knowing his name. The main character than proceeded to inject the name C3PO several times in ...

You might find writing to be similar to public speaking in that the intended audience can make a difference. For example, one might slowly get comfortable speaking in front of a group and then larger groups. One might even have mastered pubic speaking to large groups, and then in comes a TV crew and...

This subject can have some passionate views. I hope they are willing to consider secondary effects such as brain swelling that can occasionally result from a vaccination. Should this happen, one might expect the possibility to brain damage. This is one reason I prefer to use the term Aspergers as &q...

I see Aspergers as an infrequent but normal neurological variant perhaps involving a more complex, more sensitive, or faster neurology that results in a cascade of sensory and cognitive information that can be burdensome to process. One result of this is a lower ability to switch to a sort of "...

It can be difficult to discern what someone means when they say "young". For example, they might mean you seem vibrant and energetic. They might mean that your appearance is youthful. They could mean that they think you are acting foolishly. The uncertainty may contribute to an ill feeling.

There used to be a Aspergers special interest group on line with Mensa. However, a few people ruined it because they would bully everyone else. Sadly, this can be an Asperger trait. You might try researching various alternative to medication. For example, I heard omega 3 fish oil was helpful for bip...

They may have been trying to use a line that they saw on TV that they thought was amusing as a way of indicating they wished to end the conversation. They may not have understood how it could be taken especially if someone had not seen the same TV show.

Our neurology provide a stronger interior life. This often results in conversational enthusiasm for topics that interest us. A more intense focus by definition excludes others. However, this focus can be turned to others as well. Part of Aspergers skill development is to manage the narrowness, inten...

I would sit in a chair and watch the clock if it were 15 or twenty minutes before a meeting because if I started to work on something, I would usually be so focused, I would forget the meeting. It was extra frustrating because most meetings were complete waste of time anyway. When I was teaching my ...

Most people do not appreciate how different modern life is from how all life on earth was up until 100 years ago.People had broad and deep relationships. Most grew up lived and died where they were born. Families had large numbers of siblings and cousins. In contrast today people can be relationally...

Modern life is based on bureaucracies, organizational systems, and corporations. When you deal with a collective, you are ...

From the title I thought you meant white anglo-saxon gnostic. I didn't get married until I was 43. I never much considered how I appeared, but I supposed I would have been seen as unusual. I don't think I would have appeared tired. However, I considered that in urban areas if I dress worse than the ...
