Welcome to Wrong Planet and good luck. But it's worth stating: 1.) As stated, your future is not set in stone. You get to make the decisions in your life. Even if you have Asperger's syndrome, you are not Asperger's syndrome. You are a person; you get make decisions. You can help to change your futu...

Actually, it's been legal to possess marijuana for a year now in both states. It's simply now legal to sell --with the proper licenses-- marijuana in Colorado. I don't smoke that much anymore, but it's good times, anyways.

Some general thoughts: 1.) Clearing her throat is almost certainly "stimming", although it might be some OCD traits. However, assuming that this is stimming, then there's really only two things that you can do: Help her create new stims that are more socially acceptable, and try to alleviate the neg...

Porn is boring because it's a child of the film industry, and not the sex industry. Faking and mass production is more important than actually making something that's intimate. The whole ridiculous "hardcore" porn and the rest of all the "gross" factor of porn (in my opinion, anyways) are because th...

I once had a teacher who would just scribble crap across the board while lecturing. His lectures were compulsively incoherent and couldn't even be followed by people who understood the subject matter. For my notes in the class, I would stop paying attention, and when I started paying attention again...

I, too, am in late process of getting an official diagnosis. Not really sure where to go myself. Part of me just wants to quit the whole process after I get the diagnosis (and the ADHD-PI diagnosis, which I'm less sure of but still pretty sure of) and start moving on with my life. I'm thinking about...

I happened to go to a university that has a rather large number of extremely introverted nerdy people and is known as an engineering school (though I got a degree in science there, not in engineering). As a result, the people who I hung out with were are very eccentric, introverted people --for whic...

The best counter-attack I have found is not to attack back at the individual who attacked you (because the rest of the group will just back that individual up). No, the key is to attack the group as a whole . This hurts NTs deeply, the same way it hurts us deeply when they attack us individually. T...

Double Standards seem very acceptable. One person can talk down to you or belittle while their friends laugh in amusement. When they get taste of their own medicine, they don't like it but suddenly what you did was not acceptable and it's not your place to do that. Now you are a bad person. Does an...

Again, it's important to stress this above everything else: We are not professionals. We cannot diagnose you, especially given that we only have an OP to work with and haven't met you. But even if we had those, we're still not really professionals. I would say (with the minimal information given) it...

I think that most people with Asperger's or autism who aren't schizoids will need and enjoy socialization. It's simply a question of how much and how adapted they are to it. There's a lot of different theories, from what I've seen, on what makes a person with AS/ASD different than an NT person. Pers...

What is not being discussed in this thread is how getting an "official" diagnosis is just inaccessible both financially and geographically for many people and the real life negatives of getting one. You really have to go to a specialist otherwise you have a good chance of running into a clinician w...

When I write, I try not to get to personal about issues I comment. You certainly made some good and interesting points, and for that I thank you. lol, happy to offer a counter opinion. As I said, I do understand your point... I just don't see my point ever getting raised. I realize that I may not h...

N.B. I understand what the opening poster is getting at, and I get that this is a collective b****ing session, but I am sick of listening to this. I want you to keep in mind that my counter-b****ing is not intended to be directed at anyone in particular, it's only meant to be aimed as a counter-poi...
