I think Weaver did a splendid job of portraying an autistic woman during a time of crisis.

There is no listing for borderline AS/NT in the DSM-IV. My belief is that you either have AS or you don't. Although I also believe you could be either a very NT-like aspie or a very aspie-like NT.

In the future, with improved diagnostics, there will be less autism diagnosed in brain-injury cases. Brain-injury can cause autism-like behaviors in some people, but autism itself is genetic with environmental triggers and has nothing to do with brain injury. For instance, a common trait of AS is an...

On second thought, maybe I prefer "AS" rather than "Asperger's." Or maybe I should coin a new term for AS, like "Hans" in honor of Hans Asperger's first name. Me to a new person: "I have Hans!" New person to me: "Yes, I have hands too. I am also grateful." Me to self: "Oh brother, .. I better just f...

Edit: I just looked it up: after an [s], /p/, and /b/ are neutralized, because /b/ is DEVOICED to produce a [p]. So it must be your perceptual system which is deciding that it is a [b] which is produced, since there is no acoustic difference between a /p/ and a /b/ in this position- unless someone ...

Okay, let me describe the difference between the why "Freudian" is pronounced from the German and "Asperger's" from the Anglicized form. It is about where the term originated and how it spread. I will also describe why someone in a major US city might often hear the incorrect pronounciation. Both Fr...

Actually, I don't think Asperger's should necessarily be pronounced with the native German pronunciation of "gerr's", because this term "Asperger's" was brought into popular culture not through German culture but through an anglicized route and so it can be argued that the Asperger's should be prono...

This reminds me of another peeve, pronouncing "asperger's" with "ger's" instead of "jer's" or going all lazy with the "p" sound. For my taste, I like the "asper" to sound more like one syllable than two. But then I am just an ordinary person living with OCD alongside other just ordinary persons livi...

Recently I have been getting more sensitive to the label "aspie," and prefer to now be called "a person living with asperger's." I guess this means I will have to change my forum name. My problem is that asperger's doesn't define me as an "aspie," rather my asperger's speaks more about me as a "pers...

I was diagnosed with Asperger's and giftedness after doing my testing for Asperger's. The second diagnosis was a surprise to me. I might be assuming but there has not been much conclusive evidence regarding these diagnosis being related, but I would not be suprised if they were.

Wikipedia needs to have about 10 times as much knowledge as has presently and have clearer ideas to how to make, and who makes, the entries more complete and well referenced.
