I feel like you are speaking a little cryptically. That's fine. I don't fully understand, but that's okay. I agree, that referring to PTSD as a disorder is a little bit condescending. And the whole authority of psychologists and psychiatrists can be rather condescending at times. Best of luck. Synd...

Generalisations can go any way. Before I suspected I could have asp I felt somewhat that I didn't have sufficient anxiety to give up my personality, just to fit in and fight for a place on social rock. I feel they lash out for not tiring myself to dead just to fit in. NTs just need to kling on beca...

I find some of this post a little confusing and anxiety-provoking. "I can slip in adjectives whenever I feel like it too." What do you mean? Are you really working on a dissertation? In any case, if you suffer from PTSD, I am truly sorry. I can't imagine what they be like to see your mom ...

Vernacular at the time as published by journalism (the other bunch to blame) Baby Killer. -> This phrase will stick, and we will never forget. It's easy if you try...DICK. It was ok to be a protestor at the time...and it made ALOT of money for the journalists of the time. But when the war was over ...

To bring the topic back. to me. PTS needs distinction: I would not be applying a disorder to a person that doesn't actually have one. ...and I understand the theoretical math behind human rearing, and the correlation with the result of trauma to an Autistic state. But I have seen people trying to ap...

Heh, I find it amusing how this conversation slowly turned from a discussion of the similarities and differences between a disorder that results in an ungodly amount of stress and an ungodly amount of stress resulting in a disorder, to an opinionated discussion of the after-affects of the Vietnam W...

I had it worse when I was a child. It was other kids that triggered it, I was obsessed about being clean because other kids said I stunk and was dirty and said I was ugly so that got me started with the need to be clean and fear getting dirty, I was also obsessed about a clean house because other p...

Well than it is a good thing you aren't one...though its hardly 'hippies' who are to blame for that, so that seems like it would be an example of misguided rage.[/quote] Vernacular at the time as published by journalism (the other bunch to blame) Baby Killer. -> This phrase will stick, and we will ...

This is Aspie for "F#%* you".
It's like when you disagree with a Christian and they say, "I'll pray for you".

That's pretty funny. I get that too.

Running to the pill factory, for a Normal child, just because they cry/don't cry, for a diagnosis...as akin to going too a medieval temple for sacrifice. This implies that parents reading your post medicate their children thoughtlessly for little to no reason, and pursue diagnoses equally capriciou...

The parents on this forum are not, from my observation, knee-jerk pill-requesters. I don't know how you would have gotten that impression or why you would make this assumption. Many of us, including myself, have never requested, and have even resisted the suggestion of medicating. The ones who have...

For a true PTS victim: Getting over it doesn't work. All you can hope for is being able to cope in environments where all members have not got a clue / were the part of society that put you into that place (Hippies vs. Viet vets) (Personally if I were a Vietvet, I would shoot hippies for sport. + th...

I never said I want to cure it or not cure it. I posted about my brothers experiences. He found ways to overcome and adapt to his OCD. Its rarely an issue for him anymore. My tendencies don't cause anxiety or interfere with my life. Then he is "cured" coping...ie. Has an occupation, somet...

I am trying to "enlighten", just a little. Running to the pill factory, for a Normal child, just because they cry/don't cry, for a diagnosis...as akin to going too a medieval temple for sacrifice. I would personally WAIT it out, and use as much of grandma's techniques as possible before wa...

I don't have OCD but do have some tendencies. My older brother does. He really struggled with it and was bullied. He had a lot of anxiety and difficulty coping. However, when he went to college things changed. He made huge strides and completed his masters degree. OCD is actually quite curable, but...
