What do you know about yourself or the world now that you wish you knew earlier in life? I bow to the experience of my elders and hope to create a lasting thread. This is a place for sharing your reflections on the past. Please understand that experiences shared here may be painful and respect the p...

I have talked to several people about this and liking artistic things seems to be a human/culture thing in general. It just seems that people on the spectrum are more likely to develop a fixated interest in these things, while non-autistic people can have art/entertainment-related interests and foc...

I think this may answer all of your questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4Gotl9vRGs This guy explains something called the "Point-line plane conjecture." Which is quite similar to what you described. Using this model it is easy to grasp up to ten dimensions. The fourth dimension is time. It g...

Update: I have started the process to getting a diagnosis, so many steps! The thing I'm most anxious about is what if they tell me that I'm just making things up? Like at least one friend and my mother have accused me of doing. Thing is, I am convinced that I fit the bill, why am I required to prove...

I really want to know, though, how normal it is not to interested in "artistic" things. I am afraid that people will think I'm crazy if I admit this to them. I often feigned a slight interest in the above things in the past. I'm kind of tired of "faking it". Everyone seems to be at least into one o...

Great topic, and thorough! I'm a little skeptical about these sub-types, they seem arbitrary. I identify most strongly with a type 2 or 3, but really I'm a carcrash of all of these traits, but in varying severity. Granted, I only put a name to this profound difference less than a week ago. I seem to...

This is like reading a "Thai-Swahili, Swahili-Thai" dictionary! Every word in Thai is translated into Swahili, and Swahiili is translated into Thai! Whoopie! Lol! So this term that I never heard of is NOTa slur. Well THATS sure a relief! So cissexual is the opposite of transsexual. So what does THA...

I'm hyper aware of everything I'm feeling, ALL THE TIME. Prolonged social interaction with more than 2 or 3 people is incredibly stressful. I spend days alone, don't leave the house unless required. even then it's stressful. Forget about grocery shopping. Eat 1 meal a day. Cannabis helps a lot, but ...

It seems that there are a lot of people here who are already positive that they are on the spectrum, but have no diagnosis. I'm struggling with disclosure. Now that I know, i want to shout it from the highest mountain, because I think its cool. I'm eager to help my friends understand me better and m...

There are some people who use the word cis or cisgendered in a derogatory manner, especially in the feminist community when they are talking about the evils of the patriarchy. You are right though: its not a slur, but it can be used in a hurtful way. Keep that in mind.
