It's not my work ethic, it's my mental health. Occasionally I'll spend days with zero human contact and it gets harder to retain information, let alone focus on it in the first place. Rather than stay up until 1 AM I sometimes just let it go and try to relax.

Try new things, but stick with them long enough to see results. If you don't know your aptitudes yet, you'll bump into them eventually when you're testing what's out there. If you don't stick with any of them and find solutions to the hard parts, though, it won't develop as a skill.

Morning rituals help somewhat, but I find that if I can't focus on anything it's not a matter of procrastination. Too little sleep, not enough water, hungry, etc. A little variety helps, too. I find that if I've spent months on a short story I desperately want to put it down for awhile once I'm done...

You're telling me. Making a little extra spending money off writing is easier than making friends. As for the people on Facebook, it's my impression that a lot of people go out spontaneously. Meaning they don't plan who to go with or where to go, but they hear of someone else's plans and tag along o...

Other than anything beginning with "at least", I don't think there's anything specific to say to people who are having a hard time other than to talk to them and keep an open mind. They're just kind of freaking out for a bit and need time to process or someone to hear them.

I don't know if you're coming or going, but I feel I have to be honest regardless. Either way, what needs to be said is said.

I've been toying with Ruby. I don't care for programming, but feel I should have a working understanding of it so I dip in once in awhile when I'm in the mood or something catches my eye.

Maybe she thought you were controlling all of them at once instead of taking turns. It's really no more complicated than games like chess or checkers that have multiple pieces, and lots of people play those, too.

I tend to balance between buying things like butternut squash pasta that I just need to boil, stir-fries, and homemade quesadillas with lots of beans and vegetables. I eat a lot of mangoes, carrots, bananas, and berries, but those aren't meal foods.

Maybe, maybe not. People aren't usually shy about mentioning the family members they spend so much time around in my experience, whether it's a son or a wife. You could assume people mention a son because they want to pair you off with him, but inspecting it from that angle shows how much of a stret...

Lem's Solaris. Getting back into classic sci-fi and enjoying the different style that sounds fantastic on audiobooks.

Revival by Stephen King. It's not scary at all. Just weird. Creepy at some parts. It's a good book though.

I thought the same thing.

Picked up a game called Waking Mars on a Steam sale that promises to be a thoughtful, exploration-oriented game. We'll see. Just sitting down to start playing it while bored on Easter weekend.

Fnord gets a lot of flack, but he's the only one who realized this was posted in The Haven and not Random Discussion for a reason.

Thanks for being the only one on Wrong Planet to take my feelings seriously, even if you don't have answers for my situation.
