Also JBW, about verbal vs. nonverbal, I think that depends on your learning style. I find that writing allows for more time to think things through, where verbally, you tend to get more of my gut reaction, which isn't always as clear or thoughtful. It's often my first thought or impression. As for s...

I'm curious too, NurseAngela, about why some people don't choose to learn a little about a lot of things, in addition to their interests. Still, we need some people in the world who are hyperfocused in very technical areas, as they take serious dedication. As for not answering questions, I get that ...

Wow, that's terrible to have two completely opposing diagnoses. If she really needed the help, it sounds like the second diagnosis was better. What sort of accommodation do universities provide to students on the spectrum. I know they might qualify for extra time on tests, or maybe a separate testin...

Hi Slave and JBW, Slave, thanks for reviving this thread. If you're curious, the class used the DISC model of communication styles, and I'm DC. According to the instructor, a certain amount of social difficulty is inherent in people who share my style, because our strong personalities may clash. We ...

I wonder if there are any other social awareness/communication disorders besides autism. It sucks not knowing the answers. You seem self-aware and intelligent; I believe you will continue to discover them. I know I keep discovering mine, even though therapists I've seen haven't been as helpful as I ...

Dealing with all of that, put together, sounds awful. What have you tried so far? Are there people and things that make you feel better? Also, have you considered seeing a therapist?

Cool, maybe start with asking his favorite driver or track? One of my friends is a fan, and because I knew nothing about it, I probably asked too many questions LOL. Anyway, welcome, and let us know how it goes. Oh, and I just thought of something, maybe someone could prepare your brother-in-law for...

Do you know if the two of you have any interests/hobbies in common? That's always a nice place to start :-)

Sorry to hear you are feeling down. There are some nice threads on self-esteem and affirmations here. OK, you aren't perfect, me neither :-) what are you good at? How about some things you aren't so good at? Would it help you to look at where you were versus where you are now? That technique helps me.

I'm sorry you feel so alone with your feelings. Are you friends with this guy right now? Are there maybe ways to increase the time you spend together to see if you like each other more? I know this is always easier said than done, but what do you suppose might happen if you come out and tell him you...

The forum did not require email verification when I registered, and I'm new. In fact, I found that strange. I know for a fact this is true because I registered on my phone, and I do not have this email account on my phone.

I've cried after orgasm. I've also cried at relaxed moments during meditation or yoga, so I think it's about finally feeling relaxed and releasing strong feelings that were already there. That's how I've experienced it anyway. This doesn't happen if I evoke joyful feelings first but I'm not always g...

LOL that is certainly true, so I wanted to see an example of how this might work. Here's a simple description of pattern discovery from Math Dude:

Learn hurt learn share what you learn. 8) Great quote, and it gives me an idea for a new thread :-) I thought maybe if we shared some of our blunders or questions to which we've gotten answers, it might help someone. What have you learned that you wish you had known sooner? Or, for parents or sibli...
