What does It feel like? To me, it feels like a person gets lodged in my head. They become the center of the universe of my brain..thoughts revolve around them. And yes, I would say it gets obsessive for me. I found myself indulging in thinking about them and it interfered with me getting stuff done...

Welcome, Mike. Your story reads a lot like mine, except for the bass guitar part. :) I was diagnosed late in life as well, and it helped make sense of everything that lead up to the diagnosis. Hope you find your time her helpful and enjoyable.
