I like having a lot of privacy but I have never been very good at being completely alone. I need people near, but at a distance. For instance I like being in a room by myself but able to hear someone doing something from another room, or even hearing someone walking outside does something for me to...

Answering the phone makes me very nervous, because I know I won't know what to say, and I'm also afraid of misunderstanding or not hearing the other person. Plus I've had bizarre experiences where someone started yelling at me because they didn't believe they had reached a wrong number! The phone is...

I qualify for Mensa, but I'm no genius. As others have said, Mensa accepts the top 2%, based on IQ scores, so it's not really all that rare to qualify for it. I do think though that just having a high ability to think logically makes one a bit of an outcast all on its own, even without the other soc...

I was touched by your story, and I just want to say I wish you the best, and you have my respect and congratulations for hanging in there and keeping on despite setbacks and painful life experiences. I have heard many reports form other people saying that corporate culture has become increasingly co...

I think I'm pretty good at figuring it out in cases where you can use logic to figure it out. I pick up on it when people say things that don't add up, and then I become suspicious and can figure out the deception. I think I'm possibly better at that than the average person. But I'm very bad at seei...

I think it's important to make sure your son realizes that whenever people choose to do something mean for no reason, it's always about them, the perpetrators, and not about the person being targeted. He may need to be reminded that just because someone calls him dork, it's not a reflection on him a...

I find that it's not that easy to remain anonymous if you have a natural tendency to be honest and are not usually deceitful or find it hard to lie or deceive. You may end up giving yourself away. Also, if you write about controversial topics you may get nasty comments, which can be hurtful even if ...

Bee33; baiting people is very cruel. If this begins to happen again, please consider the possibility of stopping this cold, by quickly withdrawing from the situation. There are times when a *little* abruptness is perfectly justified. Ross Thank you for your kindness and advice. The baiting was very...

I'm in a similar boat so I'm curious to hear the advice too. Several years ago I was in therapy for depression, but I didn't find it useful because whenever I told the therapist I didn't know how to do something, like talk to someone for instance, she would try to be reassuring, instead of understan...

Thank you all for your welcomes. Ross, I think I know what you mean. The person who instigated the bullying found me unacceptable and kept baiting me in an underhanded way until I was upset enough to take her bait. And then I was the villain. CanyonWind, I don't think I have had a lot of obsessions,...

Hi, I'm new here and I'm hoping some of you can help me figure things out a bit. I apologize ahead of time if I use the wrong terms or say wrong things out of my lack of knowledge. I haven't been diagnosed and I don't know if I would qualify for a diagnosis of AS, but I think that I have some AS cha...
