Among other things, I now do more regular 'checks' of/on myself to make sure I'm not investing efforts towards fulfilling someone else's (ill-conceived) expectations of me. Nothing like trying to make myself fit someone else's 'picture' turns me 'off' (a version/manifestation of boredom/depression, ...

Hi. I'm not understanding the question. Are you referring to the difficulty of changing the habit of writing/thinking a certain number? Like, in January we'll have to write '2012' instead of '2011'?

It is hardly accurate to suggest that those with a phone 'issue' but who are not deaf don't 'need' such a service as the TTY. Further, citing expenses (that are actually considerably lower than before) as justification for denying others such a service is more a mimicking of 'unfriendly' bureaucracy...

Would somebody please 'educate' me about 'blogs'? What are they, what's the purpose, what do the instructions 'go follow it' signify... Is a blog just some kind of online 'diary' of sorts? Thanks!

Hey all. Been reading this thread and one or two others like it today. Given me some things to think about... and, first question: I've very much enjoyed the few times a 'partner' has come to me while still wearing leather gloves (because of cold outside weather...). Something about the gloves...cou...

One question that may should be asked here is 'how much power do you give to (certain) words?' Words, really, are contextual and are 'supposed' to mean what we intend them to mean. Sometimes (maybe more like 'often', in the case of an Aspie speaking to an NT), a statement one makes will be mispercei...

In the past - when others would 'invade my space' out in public - I, too, would try stepping back or away to 'escape'. But, that action was invariably perceived as a yielding (a 'weakness') by others. After some time in Aikido training, I 'experimented' with using the concept/movement called 'enteri...

jojobean: It is a good idea... Does it work well for you? Have you (or anyone else applying this idea) had any difficult situations in which you're put into a position of having to explain that, well...you're not deaf after all? Using tdd or Sign or demonstrating any behavior/action (other than 'imm...

This video was a pretty realistic depiction for my walking-down-a-street experience, too. The only thing that really stood out as not quite 'matching' was the speed and frequency of head-turning to (re)look at things. If the video depiction matched my speed and frequency of such, it would probably c...

Oh, wow. That's so cool! I've had that experience a few times recently myself. Just get to thinking about different post-ers on WP and I get a smile ...that often doesn't actually show up on my face. How Aspie is that? lol
