Too many brain cells? I'm not brighter than average, and I have less social skills and my memory doesn't hold much useful information.....

Well, "too many" does imply that there are some negative effects of having them.

More brain cells != more intelligent.

This sounds like an interesting book. I do wonder if she acknowledges that "male" and "female" are not objective biological categories to which everyone can be assigned, though. It's incredibly rare for science to acknowledge that (even if we are talking strictly about physical characteristics, inte...

What does and does not exhaust me seems pretty random. Doesn't seem to have much to do with how much I sleep, either...

They all thought that all her problems would disappear if she just made to-do lists and stuck to a routine. Meanwhile, they all thought that all my problems would disappear if I just stopped sticking to a routine. That is magnificent. Maybe you could donate your routine to her. A while ago I was ha...

Perhaps I'm misreading this, but to me "during the course of" seems to refer to a time span, i.e., you cannot have ADHD and a PDD at the same time.

The way the DSM-IV is written you indeed are not supposed to be diagnosed with both a PDD and ADHD. But it seems like lots of people are anyway.

The draft DSM-5 does away with this.

I definitely have serious attention problems. I'm not sure if it's ADHD or (as a psychologist recently suggested to me) just massive amounts of anxiety. I've definitely noticed some people with ADHD who have some pretty noticeable autistic traits. And obviously a lot of autistic people have ADHD tra...

I more or less agree with what Sparhawke said. My friend and I once ran into a distant acquaintance (actually a less distant acquaintance's boyfriend) and were talking to him. He kept asking my friend (who isn't autistic, but is also non-neurotypical) to stop doing something totally harmless that I ...

Yes, I have. It definitely sounds stress-related. I don't think most people can work very well when anxious/stressed, whether or not they're on the spectrum.

I'd consider myself to be a fairly empathetic person, but then, according to Baron-Cohen's empathy quotient, I must literally be one of the least empathetic people in the world. I think Baron-Cohen is responsible for the popularity of the idea that autistic people are not empathetic, and to me his u...
