At first I thought (of the "ban Trump" people): "I guess this again points out the difference between the U.S. with it's "Bill of Rights" and it's 'Freedom of Speech" when compared to G.B. I still think this is a valid comparison. Has G.B. banned ALL politicians from I...

The character of Snape is probably worth a thread of its own.I liked Alan Rickman in all the roles he played and although he specialised in 'baddies',my favourite is probably in the comedy Galaxy Quest.By all accounts he was
rather witty in real life so this was maybe nearer to his own character.

Very sad news,it's been a terrible start to the year in terms of much-loved celebrities passing way.I haven't been to many concerts in my life but I've been to see the Eagles twice, such is my appreciation of their music. As well as co-writing many of their hits he had solo success as well with The He...

The problem is with a minority of Muslims who are fundamentalists.Their view of the world is based on medieval history when Crusading Christians indiscriminately slaughtered Muslim civilians,in the name of God.In those days Christians were just as much the equivalent of today's terrorists. We need th...

Space Oddity is one of the most haunting songs you could hear and Heroes is one of the most inspiring. In the late 80s it seems he found it too simple to write commercial hits and decided to forsake them to some extent and be even more creative in different genres of music, which is commendable as it ...

We watch with interest from Scotland as Trump has connections here, much to our dismay.Following his various statements and mocking of a disabled reporter, last week the Scottish Government (which has a few Muslim MPs) removed him from his position of 'Business Ambassador' and a university cancelled a...

I've always been bemused by the ruling that Presidents must be born on American soil. After all,we don't have any choice in where we are born, only where we choose to live. Here are some people who don't qualify as American under the birthplace rule - Isaac Asimov (Russian) Jackson Browne (German) LeV...

Trump is getting so much support. He could win. I will keep this very short, as I would very much like to see lunch time. I normally don't care very much about American politics, and have never had anything more than a passing thought about any of it's former Presidents. This time around I'm of two...

Trump's statement actually mirrors the extremist thinking of the terrorists, pigeonholing everyone simply by their religion or race and plays into their hands,it's the way they want us to think. It's the equivalent of the UK wanting to ban all Irish people during the IRA bombings,or even to ban all A...

I work in shipping and export a lot of Spirits (whisky etc). Our agent in Macedonia asked,in all seriousness,if we
were shipping ghosts as he'd never heard of another meaning for spirits.

Scotland can welcome all the refugees they want, if they are so compassionate they should take all they can logistically handle or else who are they to try to get up on a pedestal? What are you trying to prove? Lets see how much compassion the Scots have if they suffered a terrorist attack. Er... L...

Although Scotland has a good record of accepting refugees and making them welcome,it's by no means a case of 'open doors'. All the refugees have come directly from camps and been thoroughly vetted by both the UN and UK security to confirm they are genuinely vulnerable victims of the conflicts -they ...

In this day and age, it is utterly ridiculous for a small, impoverished place like Scotland to strike for independence. They would end up going down the toilet like Greece. I'm not in favour of independence, but Scotland isn't actually impoverished.Whisky for example accounts for a quarter of the UK...

I realise there are valid points on both sides of the debate, but it's interesting to see the actual wording of the Bill Of Rights : "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" This could be ...
