Apple calls the OLED used on their iPhone X and XS "Super Retina" and they call the LCD used on their iPhone XR "Liquid Retina". Those names are meaningless! It's Blast processing all over again! Does Apple really think the sort of people who buy iPhones won't know that the liqu...

It’s not “sympathy” I see here. It’s more like “acknowledgement.” I was forced by a man onto a bed when I was 18 (I was legally an adult, but actually a child), and forced to endure him dry-humping me. Not quite what happened to Aristophanes....but it had its effect. I don’t believe commiseration n...

Isn’t it nice having a president who follows through with his plans? I see a wall going up and people having more respect for boundaries, just like a fence between neighbors. It's still not gonna happen because the bill has to pass the Senate with a filibuster proof majority. The wall will be compl...

Yes, the Greeks were pedophiles, and were actually so misogynistic it was culturally encouraged to practice homosexuality-- during times Athenian females had less rights than male slaves and female slaves less than livestock. There's a cultural aspect though that you don't understand: if an older m...

Fnord, Yeah, it makes zero sense. How did Keith Richards ever live so long with all the bad habits he had? superior genes. People are missing the obvious. Just look at the man, the wrinkly skin @ 25, the pale completion, the inability to speak coherently-- he's not alive, he's a zombie that's contr...

No one will know if you do not tell them. It is better to make stuff up instead of the truth. People like to believe in fantasy tales and hear positive spin on things. Negativity drives people away. Not for me, I prefer the truth, that's probably my biggest social deficit is demanding truth in soci...

My point is: it's not speech in the first place it's the naming of an animal, and even if were it would be protected because it's political in nature-- the man purchased the rights to protest Trump's stance on global warming, it's the entire point of him naming that specific creature. The article y...

I like David Harbour in Stranger Things, but in that trailer I could tell he doesn't have near the presence that Ron Perlman had in that role. I'll hold off my judgement on Ian McShane vs John Hurt until I actually watch the film, there wasn't enough in the trailer to tell, and I find Ian McShane hi...

I've been told I can be intimidating, not scared of me, but intimidated. I'm really straight forward and challenging in disagreements, so I'm pretty sure that's where that comes from. Plus I can do one hell of an evil eye stare down. A male friend and I got into an argument where I gave him my evil ...

I get the feeling that if I was born Amish exactly the way I am now that I wouldn't be welcomed in their culture and would most likely leave. Actually, I've always thought of the Amish as a great culture for an autistic. Autistics are rule followers, and Amish acceptance is all about following the ...

It was just the House, it will not clear the Senate due to to the filibuster. I actually don't have that much of an issue with the wall, something has to be done about immigration, but there are more effective solutions that are cheaper, such as drone surveillance and putting teeth in employment law...

The assumption is as with previous technological shifts, while some people got screwed the economy handled it and most moved forward, it is always going to work out that way. Yeah, the problem I have with this shift (and I've worked in tech before, I've been one of the people driving it at one poin...
