Sounds like this was a sweatshop and I'm pretty certain he's violating all kinds of laws. I'm from the US but I do know that Canada has a lot of laws protecting the worker. You might be able to stick it to this guy if you chose: check with the department of labor.

I got vocational help from the state. The counselors were very nice and caring people but the onus is on you to know what you want out of life. I had a lot of difficulty figuring this out so I used my therapist to help organize my thoughts. I thought long and hard about learning to drive a truck. I ...

These personality tests are just hogwash. Some psychometrics companies figured out how to develop a vertical market by selling the accuracy of these tests to HR departments. Really they are an incredibly inaccurate predictor of success in the workplace and you might be able to challenge this in cour...

I found a nice article after doing a related search. Here it is Basically it goes into detail about not getting wrapped up in what people think about you. This may not be a great issue of people on the autistic spectrum, as empathy tends to be low as I hear, but it's something relevant to me and I ...

Do you know if they are ordering more computers and growing their staff? One bad week doesn't make the end. NTs have bad weeks too. I wouldn't jump to conclusions and let your thoughts ruminate too much. See how this plays out and continue to do the work to the best of your availability. IMHO, a bos...

If it helps, I've been there before and I'm there now. Lately I've been startling very easily too. My phone will beep with an email or text message and I'm scared outta my skin. At the suggestion of my therapist, I'm trying conventional Japanese Zen meditation. Last night was my first time and I fel...

Well, I was just reminded once more how since almost everything I like is supposedly only for kids (like cartoons, toys, and video games with an E, E 10+ or even T rating), and therefore I must be treated like a serial killer who slowly eats babies alive in front of their parent's eyes. (Actually, ...

Tuesday nights are my new favorite! The local bar is great! One of my favorite bar tenders, a very sweet NT makes a nice home cooked meal on Tuesday nights. She does it out of the kindness of her heart and it's just good, old fashioned relaxation. I don't cook so I appreciate the fresh, nutritious f...

The unfortunate assumption is that by not holding down employment, you are somehow irresponsible or deficient. Sometimes you have to just love the human tendency to jump to conclusions. In actuality, I'll guess that you haven't found the right job just yet. I think at 37, I might have just stumbled ...

Has anyone else felt like they're never going to be happy? Like they're going to be alone for the rest of their life? I certainly do... For the first time, I actually drank alcohol since people keep saying it makes you feel numb.. but instead it made me feel worse.... SO much worse. I honestly feel...

I had my assessment this past Thursday and I was surprised, no shocked, at what the employment counselor recommended to me. Despite having tons of experience in Information Technology, she basically, no pun intended, steered me to truck driving. My first reaction was that no way I would be driving a...
