I am theorizing that culture will have changed so much that what we are currently expected to believe in (God) or have to emotionally reject will just be seen as a quaint artifact; as irrelevent in the year 4000 as belief in Zeus is now. *no American exceptionalism here. This expectation of auto-be... |

What is science without having some of it result in practical outcomes? Science is used to achieve financial outcomes too. Without science we wouldn't even have commerce.
Even purists have to live in the real world. |

LGBT people are BORN that way, IMO. We have to get away from the binary idea of nature vs nurture. It's a spectrum between the two. Some will be closer to the nurture end and can be diverted in either direction. Others are closer to the nature end and can no more be diverted than the ocean tide can... |

The impression I get is people don't like the Bible because there are things in the Bible that offends them. How one gets offended is going to depend on one's personal biases. It's one of those irrational things we've been talking about. Just because people find offense in some things in the Bible ... |

Wow! Where do I begin with that lot? Through these editing and revisions numerous items have been deleted and added. That much is true. The last time they did this was in the 1940s, when homosexuality, tattoos, and others were added to the bible. Ummm.. which Bible? Many Bible versions have been pro... |

The reason I don't wholeheartedly "come out" as a fideist is because .... Labels are a double-edged sword. On one hand we use them as short-hand, so people catch on quickly, but on the other hand a label means people will make wrong assumptions. Labels are static, individuals are usually ... |

So Nambo, you support the belief that homosexuality is a sin? You will have to show where my post indicates I support homosexuality being a sin rather than my reporting what the Bible states. That's why it was a question rather than a statement. With volatile issues like this, it can sometimes be u... |

It's clear in the NT that homosexuality is not ok. Just another reason religion is out of touch. And Christianity isn't alone there. |

Walrus, just a quick note for clarity. When David says that there are several threads where evolution has been exposed as a lie, he is basically self referencing. |

God is currently MIA. The God family forefathers were able to do amazing things. With a little chewing gum, some twine, a stick and a couple frogs they could do miraculous things. But each successive generation of the God family inherited less of the talents of the previous. Which I guess explains ... |

People do love to adopt (steal) symbols. What annoys me more is when an old favourite piece of music gets adopted for a tv ad'. |

Early man looked at plants and trees and could fathom no reason for their existence except for a deity. He looked at animals and could only explain them through the work of the gods. He looked at rocks and mountains and volcanoes, and could find only one explanation. He saw the clouds and the rain a... |
