BTDT is an acronym for Been There Done That. I've discovered that I've done just about all the Aspie type things at one time or another. My wife, who figured out I'm an Aspie, says I display distinctive behaviors every day.

Maybe you could take the approach some mechanics take in fixing your car--they try different fixes until they find one that works... I'd suggest working on an issue that bugs you, and try different approaches to see which one helps you the most. Then work on another one. You will have a much better ...

Yes, you want to work with a buyer's agent, who represents you. A good agent knows about your town and can help you avoid "gotchas," like covenants and home owners associations that can limit what you can on your property. They split the commission with the seller's agent. It helps to inspect the ho...

Fixed rate mortgages are nice and predictable. Adjustable rate mortgages are not--we got a 15 year fixed rate mortgage--so the house will be paid off before I'm 55.

I have a good job and saved a lot of money by renting a very cheap apartment--so the down payment wasn't a problem. You might look at small 2 or 3 bedroom homes--not only are they cheaper, but they are likely to hold their value better than those big homes that are harder and more costly to maintain...

Another variable is the removal of the old roof. The first time a house needs new shingles, you can just put a new layer right on top of the old one. But, after you do that, you need to remove both layers before replacing the roof, significantly adding to the cost. Not only do you have to pay a crew...

She should get several quotes. In New England, about 4 years ago, ours cost around $6600--1/2 up front in cash and the balance when the job was completed.

NTs need friends. An Aspie may not.

You might explore your world to see if anything interests you--perhaps go to some museums or visit some nearby tourist attractions? Perhaps watch a few sporting events?

An Aspie brain is like a superhighway--it can be very quick when for doing certain tasks--just like a superhighway is great for going from one place to another--if the highway is designed for those particular locations! It isn't very good if you have to constantly get on and off the freeway (multita...

Instead of pursuing your passions, it may be more practical to figure out your strengths--what are you good at? Is there any way to use those strengths somehow? A better approach may be to be good at something, and then work from there. If you are really good at something, you have a better chance o...

Trial and error can a be quite useful when learning to build things. In practice, there are often just a few practical options at hand--it can be very effective to try a few and see what happens. Trying to intellectually figure out what will happen can be an exercise in frustration--sometimes even t...
