But I think this person has issues. While we were driving, she couldn't hear her GPS because she called her son. So she was having a phone conversation with him and talking to me at the same time. She kept picking up her phone to look at the GPS map and directions. I asked her why she kept picking u... |

Maybe it was just her way of making smalltalk lol Often when I socially interact with people I try to give them tips which I think may be useful to them (and I never considered that it could get annoying). Maybe that's what she attempted. And that would be one more reason why I HATE small talk!! :l... |

I think it's getting more and more difficult for me to spend time with people whom, let's just say, might not be the sharpest tools in the shed. I had to drop her off at the airport and we had to use her car because the way my car is set up, I can't take any passengers. So, I was to drop her off, dr... |

I've had problems with therapists who made a lot of assumptions and didn't listen or simply didn't believe me. For instance, when I told a former therapist that it was difficult for me to interact with people, she assumed I was just anxious about it and encouraged me to do it anyway, on the assumpt... |

Hi guys, Thanks for all the replies! Food for thought :) Yeah, it's true, I could disclose (after much debate with myself, for instance) and only get a blank look from the other because they don't know much about ASD anyway, or don't care! Re. my comment about only making friends with other ASDers,... |

I agree it's a BS copout.
I doubt any of them could tolerate five minutes in my life, for sensory reasons alone. Yes to this!! |

Because you are successful the diagnosis must be wrong? Apologies, I don’t think I said that and I didn’t mean to come across that way. I mentioned it because what I have read of ASD so far in books, what I’ve experienced with previous colleagues who have been diagnosed, seems to suggest that doing... |

Hello all, First post here following a recent diagnosis, though been going through the process for a couple of years. Delays caused by the pandemic meant it took a long time to get assessed. I’m looking to see if anyone has experienced something similar how I’m feeling at the moment, and whether it... |

I'm almost 39 and I have extremely bad pms where I'I've been crying a lot lately. I also have extremely low self esteem. My mom mentioned maybe I could see a therapist but only because suggested seeing a psychiatrist because I haven't seen one since 2020. Although I now think if I see a therapist i... |

This has been really interesting. So if the person (who could be me) is not stessed, others will see them in a totally different light. If you want to see someone in a new way, approach them in a non-stressful manner at a time when they are not stressed. It's starting to sound like our old friend L... |
