I am in IT and don't get jobs the regular way. My way in is through temp, contract, volunteer or now later in life by invitation. My BFF and I graduated from Ivy league and we both worked minimum-wage jobs until nearly our 30s. My career didn't "launch" until age 27. My BFF took even longe...

I would make sure your stepson knows that big feelings are allowed and find ways to express them in a less hurtful way. I would look with him at what the triggers are. Is his dad saying something? If this is not your area of expertise, I suggest you find an outpatient intensive therapy program. I am...

If I had a few months, I would have time for the world. A few weeks, I would travel. A few days, I would be with friends and family, hug a lot, eat well and finishing one of my cross-stitching projects.

I can hang with narcissistic folks - although it's fairly unpleasant at times. They do seem puzzled or thwarted by me. I'm like "so"? Interestingly, my mom is Autistic and narcissistic. I don't know that she's a narcissist (NPD) since she doesn't do it on purpose (I hope). As a child she b...

When I disclosed to my sister in law (who is a Special Education helper), she said "no, you're not". Even my primary care physician was skeptical (and she's a great doctor, as they go). Yes, the further from stereotype, the more likely one is to hear this. People can tell I am different, b...

Factors, personality. I think we are most susceptible to "instability" - especially the sensitive, high-processing, expressive types. My ASD BFF appears emotional stable b/c she tightly controls (limits) her life, but even she is subject to an outburst on rare occasion. EMDR helped me sone...

The only thing that comes to mind are people who seem kind and reasonable until they get into (toxic) management and then they become domineering and irrational. I suppose there is a study similar to this; is that "out of character" or a part of....?

I am early 50s and my same-age friends are regularly skipping a month and have skipped 6-7 months once or twice. I'd think they are 1-2 years away from menopause (I'm just starting to skip 1 month here and there, so 2-3 years away). My SIL was one of those that skipped 11 months and then got her per...

Also, does anybody else get distracted by their feet when they are walking? I find that half my attention is on the sensory input coming in , leading me to miss important things like power poles, other people when I’m walking. I love, love, love walking on different textures. Whenever I can, I walk...

After he retired from sports, he spent most of the last four decades of his life alone in his bedroom smoking, drinking and watching sports on tv. He had no friends and no interests outside of sports. My 70-some year old Autistic mother is doing similar: avoidant sleep schedule (up at 2 pm, asleep ...
